Im going to get my first trad. bow for Christmas. It's a #40-@-28" recurve; but I draw about 30.5". So it will really be like a #45 right?
My question is what kind of carbon arrows should I get? Some have numbers on the shafts like 45-60, 6075 ext. What would be the right spine for my bow?
I plan on mostly target shooting. I'll be buying my arrows (and probally loosing some) so the cheaper the price the better.
THANKS!
The weight will probably be more around 47-48lbs. Thats a lot of weight to learn with, may want to consider something a little lighter. As far as spine there are a few more factors to consider but there are people on here a lot more knowledgeable that will be along shortly to help you. Good luck Joe
Back many years ago when I shot a compound bow my draw length was 31 inches. Shooting a recurve or long bow my draw length is 27 1/2 to 28 inches.
All I'm saying is take that into consideration. Buying arrows for the actual weight drawn is important.
I have been shooting Goldtip 35/55 which means they were ment for bows 35 to 55 pound of draw.
If you can put your own arrows together from shafts Sipsey River sometimes has deals on blemished shafts.
Good luck,
Ron
Might drop two inches from compound to recurve or longbow.
Probably Goldtip 35/55 and play with adding some weight on the front.
Plenty of folks here would be glad to get you started, shoot their bows, or hand you some different arrows to get you started.
I sent you a PM. :archer:
Andrew, where you at in NC. Lot of trad guys and gals from the mts to coast. Hook up with someone close to you and if they are like me, have tons of differant sizes of shafts they have tried. You could then shoot many diff shafts and get in the ballpark before spending the $. Don
