here's one of my favourites of cape york. it was taken by a mate on our last hunt together before i left that part of the world. we had walked a creek that day. i shot a small boar and we saw a mob of 3 of the biggest, meanest scrub bulls we had ever seen. we couldn't get a shot at them though. this was taken on the way back to the boat. we always hunted spots that could only be accessed by boat. we never failed to see pigs/bulls everytime we went out over the six months we hunted together.
anyway, post your special photos and why it's special for you.

that is utterly incredible. what are those, if I may demonstrate my ignorance?
I think they're Termite mounds.
those are termite mounds. they are prolific across far northern australia, in the states of queensland (that's where this is), the northern territory (that's where the buffulo are) and the 'kimberley' region of western aust.
i think we have all been guilty at some stage of taking the beauty of our surroundings for granted. what might seem common place to you might be breathtaking for a foreigner. everytime you head out make the time to take in the beauty of your environment, it's part of the hunt.
not exactly exotic but the memories of this trip to Colorado elk mountains are some of my most vivid - we had high's, low's, camaraderie, helped a couple out, I dang near died I guess .... heck of a deal but this photo captured a lot - Dad said he wasn't ever going back, this was the last elk hunt we went on together and at 73 he's still hunting hard, just not elk anymore.
That's weird lookin bow...

Here is one of my favourite moose stand. We call this one Gray's pond as my son Gray was with us many years ago when we made the exploratory trip into area. You can see my friend Keith on the callers stand. We have arrowed two moose from this location.

Here is picture from our most successful calling spot for moose. This one's called Harold's killer stand. Friend Harold has arrowed five out of this location and others in our group have taken two as well.

These two are my favorites! Limpopo South Africa, this old man and I spent about half hour together! The lick he's busey with was 10-15 yards from the stand. :archer:

My pic is very dull compared to most but intresting in that we hunt in a couple of thousand acres of palmettoes 3' to 7' tall solid ground cover for hogs and deer.Almost impossible to stalk deer but hogs can be stalked b/c they make constant noise also. (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p191/Kip_album/2006_1231Image0039.jpg)The best way to deer hunt is get up and look down into them.Deer move very comfortable in this cover. This pic is at the camp it is thicker in the hunting woods and swamp.Kip

okay, here's another one of me on a stalk in a marine swamp. i call it 'the honey hole'. best swamp i've been to. saw 8 boars feeding in the swamp the 1st time i went there. "boartopia". not bad cause the swamp is only about 400m X 80m. thats what i call population density.

knife river- unfortunately i hit the boar nearest the camera a bit high and i didn't recover him. my mate was cutting the jaws out of a boar he shot when he took that photo. awesome spot, you're planning your next stalk while you're taking photos of what you just shot!! best part is my mate and i are the only people who have hunted it.
AK- i can tell you it's south of the tip of cape york peninsula. LOL. seriously, would love to go for a hunt. oneday, if i survive bear hunting in canada.

This is a fun post, I love the great photos. Here are few of my favorite scenery photos from a recent sheep hunt...
I found this winterkill while scouting CO sheep in July..
There wasn't much cover for stalks, as the sheep seemed untouchable out in the open area above timberline. I wondered how other bowhunters did it..
Later I found the answer to my question: sheep fences and funnels, built by native americans who were very serious about eating sheep meat..
The stone fences were built in the shape of a "V" with the point in a saddle between ridges. The shooter nests were built near that funnel point for kills. This shooter nest had sheep poop in it, and I wondered just how many other sheep hunters had used it in the past...
One of my favorite pics, courtesy of my good friend Dr. Steven Russell. This is me at about 9500 feet in Idaho. A storm had just passed and I was huddled behind some large outcroppings seeking shelter from the wind. The sun had just come out too to warm me up. In theory I am glassing for elk here :)

Well, this is where I hunted from when I was a toddler until, well, until puberty struck I guess.. We used to make the basic "broken of branch" and string bows. Occasionally we'd get some of the sticks from fireworksremains and tie nails up front. fletching was for geeks^^
(http://i46.tinypic.com/1074407.jpg)
To me it was unique, and still is, with plenty of birds, deer, frogs, fox and the likes. We did not hunt them though, we kids hunted each other!
All in good fun of course!

One of the places I often hunt. This Bur Oak was broken off by a wind storm. Hard to believe the wind could break such a massive tree. It was not hollow.

Of all the hunting pictures I have taken (they number in the hundreds) this is my favorite. It is one that you would have to have been there to understand why.

Was it a good night cooning?
Yep. Of course every night was a good night, this one was memorable. This picture was taken just before daylight after many miles of walking.

Hey, Hoyt, that last croc looks like it stole Terry Greens hat!
He was one ugly old gator..not nearly as pretty as this one.

This shot is fairly unique..I took it from my climber up in a Palm tree in Tosohatchee WMA in Central Fl.
That's the St. John's River in the distance. Deer and hogs love that tall grass. You can't see them unless they walk right under your tree or if a buck sticks it's head up high.

With pretty fall colors like these:
... who would guess hunting in central Ohio could be so dangerous? In the early season, terrifying spiders set traps hither and yon:
... and then once the snows start and the spiders hide, the killer squirrels come out and hunt nuts:
... but it's the winter wookies you really need to worry about:

Some awesome scenery there Ray. I dream about doing a bear hunt in that type of area. Beautiful.
This is a great thread. I'm so glad to see guys taking the time to photograph the beautiful scenery/memories a lot of us take for granted. Our friend Gary Logsdon is presently in the early stages of developing his own website of fine bowhunting photography (see www.logsdonstudios.com), (http://www.logsdonstudios.com),) especially where he donates 50% of some of his profits to the annual St. Judes program. Gary has an eye for beauty and also the talent to capture it on film for all of us to appreciate. We need more guys like this to record for posterity what's out there where all of us can enjoy it. Because of our economy and hectic schedules these photos might be the closest some ever get to enjoying what's available. Thanks everyone. BW
I see that new website doesn't open because it added my comma as part of the listing. Try www.logsdonstudios.com (http://www.logsdonstudios.com) Sorry. BW
