went for the last walk of the year with bow in hand in search of the elusive white tail. i had many chances this year but did not send an arrow, looks like track soup this winter. not to cold this afternoon and found tracks pretty quick.

also found out i was not the only hunter in the woods today.

the woods by my house is only a very small patch but it does hold deer and makes for a nice walk and time to sit and ponder the mysteries of the world.

i walked under my empty, cold stand that i had watched many deer from this year and reflected on what could have been.
knelt down and drew on a phantom 10 point. ohh he was mine today if he were only real!
no real deer spotted but the scenery was beautifull.

and as i'm sad to see the season come to a close i know that as one thing closes
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/adkmountainken/Walk%20In%20Beauty/3d.jpg)
another season begins!!!!!!

i hope everyone enjoyed this deer season as much as i did, it is indeed a special time and as the last shadow fades for the year i begin to think what special hunts and memories will be made next year!

Killdeer :wavey:
Nice photos Ken. Thank You..... My area was hit with an ice storm that knocked out power for many, many people. The woods were beautiful! Just like a Christmas card. Sorry, no pictures... Just walking in the woods was tough. Wonderful to look at though.
Now, we hunt small game and coyotes. Cool! Like my wife says... "O.M.G. It Never Ends!"
... mike ...
Ken, I'm with you all the way! Lord willing there will be next year and more opportunities to fill the tags. Stay safe and shoot straight.
PS: There is always stump hunting. I hear they're pretty slow this time of year. Could be we could get a shot on one of them elusive critters. :bigsmyl:
Awesome.Looks like you were high in those pics. Not on the pipe but on life. Thanks for the pics, hope to see you at the bunny hunt.
Very nice Ken. It's great just being out there isn't it? Merry Christmas, Doug

Thanks mtnken, you've enrichened my soul.
This is something to show to a non-hunter.
It is in this spirit, that the true love of the hunt resides.
The new year is the last day for us in Michigan, and it is looming.
I DID enjoy this season, and learned a bit of humility. Memories...you bet.
I always use the last few days as a time to really reflect on things through the past year, and to give thanks, and this thread has given me a jump start on that.
Thanks.
Breath deep, and be well.
