Nov. 6th was a "perfect" night to be bowhunting. It was just one of those "deer" days when you knew it was going to happen. I saw deer but nothing to shoot at so I slowly made my way to my son's stand. When I got to where I could see the tree, he wasn't in it. I was almost to his stand when I lookde about 50 yds. out and saw him, sleeves rolled up, just finishing up on his buck.
I stood there and watched just thinking about how it seemed like yesterday when I was making a bow for him out of crab apple and rubberbands. The first time actually hunting together. That first deer with a bow. Now I was looking at a man that is teaching his kids to do the same things I taught him. Just then he looked up and gave me the big grin and thumbs up.
God has been good to me and being a part of this is why "I'm out there."

Great story, my son has hunted with me every opening day for deer season since he was 4. He is now 24 and we again hunted opening day. Then I helped him move to Arizona. I have to say hunting with him has always been my favorite thing. Not sure what next year will bring but I have 20 years of great memories which include cuddling with him while he slept, to being with him when he got his first deer. I am so happy to have had those time together!
You must be proud...thanks for sharing.Looking forward to experiencing that with my own son, someday.

Nice. I'm waiting for my grandson to be old enough to hunt...another couple years yet.
CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE. NONE OF MY SONS FOLLOWED MY ARCHERY TRACKS SO I APPLAUD YOUR SUCCESS.
Thanks for the good words. I thought you'd enjoy the end result of my commit.
