Title: Lewis Hollow, Griffin, or Pronghorn
Post by: buckster on December 10, 2008, 08:53:00 PM
I am getting ready to order a TD longbow and am looking for a little help making my mind up.

Any feedback on these would be greatly appreciated.

Buckster,
I absolutely love my Lewis Hollow. Chris is a great guy and will go out of his way to make sure you are satisfied. I am not sure there is a better deal on a custom built 3 piece longbow. Call him, you wont be sorry.

Don't have any experience with Lewis Hollow however, I do with Pronghorn 3 piece  and Griffin with the bow bolt T/D system.

My Pronghorn is a super shooting bow, in fact I think it is more stable and faster than my 2 one piece pronghorns [ possibly because of the extra weight of the riser] This bow is 62" 59# @ 28 and the fastest of my 14 custom long bows.

I do however, [ Because I really like the grip ] shoot my 55#, 60" 2 piece Griffin more than any of my other bows with the exception of my 60" 1 pc. Griffin which is 61# and since I'm chasing Elk right now I want the extra speed and heavier arrows it alloys me to use. I can carry the Griffins all day with or without the Great Northern Strap on Quiver.  They are like carring a feather and when the shot comes around they do the job.

Bottom Line.... you can not go wrong with either the Pronghorn or the Griffin! Thats pretty evidient by the fact that they don't become available very often in the classifieds but when they do, never last a day. Both hold great re-sale value and are made by two of the best Bowyer's we have the pleasure of doing business with.

Buy either, you will have made a Great Choice.

Well folks, I ordered a Griffin yesterday, but John has a 1 year waiting list.  I ordered a 60" 52@28" Red Elm limbs with Bucote riser.

But a year is a LONG TIME... so in the interim, I will either order a Pronghorn or Lewis Hollow, the "jig" is still out.

I am still trying to get ahold of Chris Sparks.

I just got in from shooting my new to me McCullough 2 pc, in the dark by flashlight. It's a mint "Raven" with a hinge connection. The finish is superior and she shoots great! This is my first McCullough and I can assure you that a year wait for your Griffin will be worth it. I'd like to put one on order myself, but can't seem to come-up with a website. How did you contact John about your Griffen Buckster?

Jeffrey, that's some really nice eye candy!  Thanks for sharing!  Maybe I will plan to make Denton Hill, where is it exactly?

Thanks

Danny, John's # is 517-626-6365, also PM'd you.

I might add that there is NO COST to get on the waiting list!  He's a real class act too.

Thanks buckster, I'll give him a call this week. Those are fine bows Tippit. What is the limb wood in the third one from the top? I really like that.

I agree that John is a great person to deal with and his bows are the best in my opinion. I own three of them and they are my favorite bows to shoot and hunt with over my Navajos, Thunderhorns, Foxx, Wapitii, Stewart Slammer, etc.

Just talked to Chris at Lewis Hollow Archer Saturday and may be placing an order.

Very nice guy and answer all my questions without hesitation.  Made me feel good if I do go with LHA.
