An other one with carbon arrows questions !
Last week end i tried some gold tip 3555 traditional cut at 28" 1/2 , 125 gr tip and with no heavy insert . Liked how fast they were but know those are light arrows !.
My bows : 50 # @28 and 53 # @28 both bows are Chek-mate Firebird , my draw length 27 " , shooting of shelf and split fingers , 2114 cut 29 with 125 tip or broadhead .
My question is could i use this arrow set up for hunting deer or it will be stupid from me to think about it ! or if you could help me to chose a carbon arrows set up . I would like to move on with carbon .

The deer I have killed with a similar setup didnt mind at all they ran less than 100 yds and promptly fell over, a couple in sight! If your arrow is as short as it can be, spine should be alright, and like you I used 10-125 grain broadheads with good results. I have since went to 150 grains, WW heads with about the same results, just better arrow flight.
My friend Mike shoots full lenght 55-75 shafts out of his 62lb Martin Savannah. He even shoots a 3 blade Muzzy/ the 150 inch 10 point never knew what hit him. The arrow went into the dirt 6 inches. I know it worked I have seen it!
I use the same arrow, I bump up the weight with 3Rivers 5gpi weight tubes and changed the inserts to 50 grain brass, 125 grain Magnus II heads(50# Martin bow)I've killed five hogs with this set-up.
Still waiting for a deer to come into my limited range.
They are one tough arrow!
Mike Treadway killed an Elk using those shafts and he was shooting a 41# bow.
I have shot thru a buck using that shaft shooting a 48 lb Bear Cheyenne.
I shoot 35/55 GT with a 50 grain insert and a 125 broadhead cut to 28" and get great flight. I draw 27" 53@28 BW long bow.
I shoot these with 100 grain inserts and 175 grain points full length out of a 52 pound bow at 30 inch draw. They weigh in about 490 grains and they fly fast and clean. I wish I could buy them an inch longer though. Jwingman
altough i dont use that set up any more I did last year and killed three does and two 10 points with the exact same set up.
All pass throughs with a 2 blade but I never hit the shoulder. It blew through this guy and into the mud.

i use them from 40-50 bows.
I used almost that exact setup and killed five Kentucky whitetails last year with a 54# @28" Whisperstik recurve. I did use 50 grain brass inserts and 100 grain magnus stinger broadheads. This year I'm using the 100 grain brass inserts simply because my Blacktail likes the extra weight better. I did have a few of the arrows not go all the way through that were hit in the ribs but they were done for none the less. I tried the weight tubes as well but didn't care for them.
The reason I like the smaller broadhead is that with the weight reduction I believe the smaller blades give more penetration over a wider bladed head.
Three Rivers sells the brass inserts and I highly recommend them.
Here's a buck I took this year with a 43# R/D Lost Creek longbow. My arrow is a 29&1/4" Gold Tip 35-55 Tradidtional blem with the regular insert, 5" shields and a 150gr Magnus 4-blade Stinger. Total arrow weight is 448 grains. Complete pass through.

Yes, it will be fine--I killed a 4 point buck this fall using 3555 GT Trad from Sipsey River. No weight added and shot a 135 grain Zwickey 2 blade on a 42 grain adapter. Total weight was around 450 grains I guess. Shot clear through the deer and I picked it up several feet beyond where he was standing--the ground stopped it ......Dave :)
I use 29" GT 3555, 125 gr head, 50 gr brass insert out of my 45# bows. They fly well, and I've gotten passthru's.
If you want to add some weight to the arrows, you could try some weight tubes. 3Rivers has them in I think 3, 5, and 8 GPI.

I just got a Black Widow PLX 53# at 27" and I shoot GT 3555 with a 175gr tip front weight 50 gr and rear weight of 25gr I love em. Good luck!
I use them on a 36# widow,42# bear take down limbs and a 41# pronghorn. I've started adding weight with a piece of 1/4 all-thread behind the insert. 100 or 150 or 200 grains, a three inch piece weights 200 grains. I found that the brass inserts didn't fit a gold tip very well.
I like the weight up front, I'm getting far better arrow flight than I could have imagined. I thought the spine would be a problem but it is not at all. You have to see it to believe it I guess.
