I have a co-worker who is just getting started in trad archery. He has a rather beautiful Howatt Triumph 25# @ 28 AMO 62. He brought in pictures for me to look at, and I noticed that he has a stabilizer and silencers on his target bow to quiet it down. Then I noticed it looked like he was shooting with a brace height of about 5". Can anyone give me the correct brace height for his bow? I'd like to get him set up correctly. Thanks!
mcgyver, Start about 7 1/2 to 7 3/4 for that bow to find a sweet spot. Could go higher than that, but that's a start.
mcgyver----Not familiar with the Triumph---but the Cavalier I have owned since the early 60's shoots best at about 8 inches.
Thanks guys!
That should get him to a close starting point.
(Sure is fun seeing the excitement of someone new to this passion.)
Depending on his current string, he might not be able to twist it up enough to get that much change in brace hieght. Especially if it has much twist in it at the low brace already.
Guess I'm saying he might need another string that is shorter.
You know, I was concerned about that myself, until he told me that his string wasn't twisted at all.
I'll check his serving after we twist him into shape.
