Anyone here know who makes a wide-limbed flat bow of high poundage for a draw over 28 inches?
TTT
Ask this question on the Bowyers Bench forum and you will get lots of response. Lots of good bow makers there.
Don't know what you consider high poundage, but Chek-Mate makes the Thunderbird, and it's a fantastic one. Very smooth with no handshock. www.Recurves.com (http://www.recurves.com)

I thought Mahaska bows make a wide limbed flatbow.
Great Northern Bushbow
Have you checked out Scorpion Bows ? They're a sponsor here and have some neat lookin' bows. I'd like to hear some first hand opinions on these bows. I'm pretty interested in a couple of 'em. Good luck.....
wow all those bows look good. I'll go and check out the bowyer's bench.
I had something like this in my mind.

Stotler Archery!
Mmm the game getter is getting closer...
FYI I've posted in the Bowyer's bench too.
Pine Hollow Longbows has a couple models..
Nice looking bows. Too dear for me at the moment.
Northern Mist has a flatbow design called the Ottawa.
It will be my next bow from Steve, in 62".
Most likly 70lbs@28. Check them out I think you will be impressed.
Try Yellowstone Renegade by Rich Wormington
I just got a chek-mate thumderbird from another tradganger, really nice bow. its specs are 60" 65@28 and I'm drawing it #71 @ 30". its suprisingly smooth all the way out to 30" and really flings an arrow. i don't think there is a better "bang for your buck" bow out there than chek-mate bows.
kohannah makes a flatbow
That bow looks like a Holmgaarde type bow. There is a build along on the Bowyers Bench. Bill
Thanks all for the replies. I'm really excited!!!

Do you mean the Baraga? The Ottawa is a recurve according to the site.
It looks nice though, I want 70lb at least too.
Ted at Raptor used to make a flatbow, sometimes available used from him. Not sure if he still build em. Horn brush bow is a flat bow style as well.
Sorry, it's the Huron. I was typing from memory.
I had a chance to shoot the flat bow a couple of weeks ago when I picked up my 74# Baraga.
I'm going with th 62" rather than the 64".
Comes back very smooth and zero hand shock. Out of all the D style longbows I have shot Steves are the best for me.

Nice bows, I'll email Raptor.
Well that's it, a few people have suggested now that I'm after a Holmegaarde.
Thanks all, now to get one.

Thanks ozy, he and I've been emailing back and forth for a while now. Nice guy. I'll be dropping in on his operation sometime after Christmas to check out his wares.
