Any recommendations for an Outfitter driving distance from Dallas. Would be flying into Dallas and renting a vehicle. Thanks, Craig
I have a hunt booked with this guy in March. Kind of a far piece from Dallas, but the hunt looks promising, and I talked to the outfitter for a while on the phone, and it sounds like a fun hunt.

Craig,
Give me a shout, I have some relatives in Weatherford that own a ranch. They have Whitetails and Hogs. I will call them for a cost if any. Ed
centaur, thanks I'll check into it. Sounds good Ed, I'll give you a call.
7th Age (sponsor) has a lease not far from the place linked above - closer to Odessa. Check with Curtis.
your going to have a hard time finding Javelina that far north. They are, to the best of my knowledge complelety, a south texas game. You can find all kinds of hogs in north texas though
7th Age (SPONSOR) Curtis will put you on Javies anytime you want. I will be hunting with him for 5th time this Feb.
I have hunted javelinas in West Texas for several years, but think more hogs are in the panhandle and fewer javelina. Those Texas guys probably know best though.

We have plenty of javelina in West Texas. I wish I could get rid of all the javelina on my deer lease. They are a pain in the neck.
Can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would pay to hunt those darn stink'n things  :biglaugh:
Anyway....call 7th age.....I believe he books hunts for them.

Hey guys thanks, but we now might be flying into San Antonio. What do you think in that area?
we have hunted with glen smith at brush country bowhunting killed some hogs and javelinas hes just south of san antonio in freer. he has a web site brush country bowhunting .com lodgeing is good and you do your own cooking and smitty is first rate.
Craig:
There is a big difference between Javalina and hogs. Feral hog hunts can be had in north Texas, while javalina are primarily found in south or west Texas. Javalina are maybe 50 pounds, feral hogs come in all sizes with some going over 400 pounds. Are you truly looking for a javalina hunt or are you interested in feral hogs?
Bill, Looking for a javalina hunt.
you are going to need to go at least 4 hours south of Dallas
Steertalker, Would you consider subleasing to some Texas boys to shoot your Javelina?
Thanks,
Grant
Plenty of javelina west and south Texas primarily. San Antone is a better bet for javes than Dallas. They stink MUCH! Javelina difference between bowling ball... you could eat a bowling ball if you had to. They're fun to hunt similar to hog hunting. Where you'll find javes you'll likely find hogs in Texas. Google "javelina hunt Texas". Good luck.
Straitera, I have to wholeheartedly disaggree with you on the comment you made about the javalina. They are great eating, prepared correctly, just like any other game animal. The smell, well I will agree with you on that one, up to a point. In my experience, it's the big males that stink to high heaven. And even at that, just cause you shot the biggest baddest male in the herd, does not mean you got the best tusks on there. I have taken many females with larger tusks than any male I have taken.
I grew up hunting Javi's and they are the animals responsible for my shooting a bow now. They were made for the traditional bowhunter, poor eyesight, tolerant of most noise and plenty to go around. Remember that their vitals are no bigger than a grapefruit and you want to break the shoulders to get to the good stuff. I have learned to shoot at the spot where there collar starts to turn foward, if you look at one, you will see what I mean. Good luck, and if you marinade the ribs in a good citrus marinade for a couple of hours and then bar-b-que over a mesquite fire, you will be amazed.
