Title: Broadhead adapters????
Post by: Dmaxshawn on December 06, 2008, 10:12:00 PM
I purchased some Abowyer heads and have to use adapters to fit for my carbons and I have never had to do this before.  My question is do you use the regular old hot-melt glue?  What glue is everyone else using.

Thanks Shawn

Hot melt works, and you can also use a slow cure epoxy.  Try to make sure they are straight and if you can find it, use heat reversible epoxy.  Good luck.

I use five minute epoxy. Clean the adapter and inside the broadhead with alcohol first to remove any oil that may be there. I haven't had one pull loose yet.

When I worked at Kinsey OUtdoors ( retail subsidiary of Kinsey Archery)they had some dark brown glue sticks (not the white hot melt) that they used. Man...that stuff was amazing...we'd cut dozens of customer arrows/day and glue in inserts... and we didn't even have time to clean out the cut carbon shafts!  They'd often shoot them right after into masonite backstop which pulls any insert even remotely not stuck tight!

Bohning might have made it... they individually packed them for customer sale...no name.
