Hello folks,
I'm thinking of making myself a case for my recurve to throw in the truck. Before I started, thought I'd ask what everyone else uses to transport their bows from home to the woods. I was going to do up a nice oak case lined with felt and covered in deer hide. However, my 62" SAIII doesn't fit into my Frontier while strung (width-wise), so whatever I make will probably get tied down in the back of my truck. Seems like a pain to string up everytime I arrive at the huntin' spot. What about you all?
Thanks,
Dave
I always string and unstring my bows at the hunting site. I don't use a case so according to state law here it must be unstrung while being tran sported. I did put some carpeting in my truck bed to keep from scratching/denting the bow though. If you don't use a bow quiver, might a piece of 6-inch PVC/drainage pipe work?
Jerry,
Does the bow have to be unstrung, or disabled? If disabled will work, see if you can get some sort of cable and lock that you can install in a figure 8 around the string and riser. Check with the DNR folk and see if that will suffice.
Bill
If the case is locked that should make everybody happy.
You really have to unstring your bows by law?? I never thought about that! I couldn't ever fit mine and my brother's bow cases in my truck cab at the same time so we would just ride them out of case, carefully in the back. Never thought I'd be breaking the law. I think they'd probably tear the ticket up anyway if they saw me shoot!!
