Now the rest of the story. Early season started slow and hot not many deer seen. I finally found a good spot on the WMA close to my house. After hunting one mourning I tried stillhunting some pines. I was working up a trail slowy when I heard something running at me. A little doe came in and stopped at 7 yards. I was at full draw when she stopped broadside and I released :banghead: (note to self pick a spot)the arrow hit a tree behind her.
Well friday I got out the flu flu and small game arrow to have some fun. With rabbit, tree rat and duck season open I worked my way around the field. When I got to the creek there were three duck sitting on a log. They spoted me as I drew my bow and started to take off. I came to full draw, picked a spot( see note worked) and released. Much to my surprise the duck hit the water with my arrow in it. :D

I am used to missing a deer because he ducked...
Mental note: Start hunting flying deer. :jumper:
By the way, congrats on the duck. That's very cool. I'd have to take that one to the taxidermist.

Killdeer
You do have a way with words Killi.
Great shot on the duck!
Great job. I can relate, too. One year I missed 4 deer and managed to kill a turkey and a bobcat with the recurve. Go figure.
I agree, that's a trophy that needs preserved. Don't know my ducks very well. Is that a teal wing? Beautiful!
I'm begining to think that the tougher the shot, the more likely we pick a spot and make a good clean release. I've had the same thing happen, make a great shot on the tough ones and miss the "chip shots".
I made a mediocre shot on an elk this year (hit back) at about 6 yards! He runs out to 40 and stops with nothing showing but his rear end. I alreay had an arrow on the string knowing another arrow in the animal will help recovery and I pick a spot and shot at the only thing visible (his hind end) and the arrow flys like its on a rail right to the bull. Someone asked me "did you pick a spot on the first shot?" I tell them "yep, it was about 6 foot long and tan".
Gosh. I've missed many of those things with my shotgun. That my friend is a bowhunting trophy. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Watch out Rudolph !

LOOK OUT PRANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats
what kind of bow is that?
Pete its a Toelke recurve.
I cant believe you didnt pick out a Drake as they took wing.
Just joking of course, Great shot !!!!!
Trap
Nice hen woodie. Just make sure you are in possession of a Federal Waterfowl Stamp when you shoot an arrow at one. Can get real sticky if stopped without one.
