I was given an old 1976 vintage bow, made by E Root, the name of the boyer is on it, it is 62 inches and 47# @ 28 inches and it has a serial number on it. I have ordered a string for it and I know I need to clean and seal it before I use it much with a new coat of poly. Is there anything else i need to do and as he made or licensed his name to Shakespeare, but this one isn't is it valuable or a collectors item and should I leave it alone or have some one do a bit of restoration on it? Thanks
Kirk
Roots aren't particularly valuable. I think you've got yourself a good hunting bow there. If it were mine, I'd refinish it myself. I recommend you get a bow stringer if you haven't already done so. Good luck. Have fun.
Thanks, it is a nice bow and I made a string from an article, I am just going to cover it with poly to preserve the original finish which is really nice, it is a nice find for me as I love archery and have never had a really good bow. I can't wait to have some fun with it. :0)
