Title: What arrow
Post by: Bear Heart on November 30, 2008, 08:34:00 PM
What aluminum arrow would you shoot out of a 69" Jerry Hill longbow. 50# at 28".  I would like at least 10 gpp to avoid hand shock and because I just have a thing for heavy arrows.  Would wood be a better choice?  If so how heavy a spine and point weight?

What is your draw? The length of your bow really makes no difference. Your draw and the weight at your draw are what is important. I shoot Legacy 1916's with 150 to 170 grain broadheads. With 170's they will weigh about 510 grains. 2016's would also work for your setup. You can trim them to length and play with the point weight to tune.

I shoot the 1916's trimmed to 29 1/2" for my 46# Kanati or 29" from my 51#. I draw 28".

I shoot 50-55 port orford cedars in either bow. It will depend on the batch how much they weigh. You can sometimes request heavy arrows from your supplier.
