I bought a Bear Kodiak Magnum a couple of weeks ago and was having a bit of a problem with it.
Well I finally figured out that the string was too short, had a brace height of about 9 1/2", untwisted. once I got that taken care of, and put some silencers on it i took it out for a short spin with the arrows I have set up for my longbow, 29', 360 grains up front.
Anyway, the only thing I can say is , WOW! I really love this bow. Quiet, no handshock, shoots really well.
Bought the bow from the auction sight, just to see what all the talk was about. It's 45@28, and using the dating guide by the serial # I think it was made in '71-'72, not sure though. Serial # is KU25695.
I wanted to put some pics up of it, but the battery in my camera is dead so I have to charge it a bit before I can.
Did I mention that I love this bow?
Keith
Another addick, con grads keep shooting.

Aren't those 29 foot arrows kinda awkward? :biglaugh:
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Bear tended to brace their bows a lot higher than I liked from the factory. If that's a continuous loop string, it could be original. No kidding, they were that high. I'm not sure what their rationale was. They do tend to shoot better with a longer string in my experience.
Nice bow, congrats!
telephone poles, man, i'm shooting telephone poles!
Keith
Nice one! I just got one recently too, in order to find out for myself. It's a cute little thing, for sure.
Trust me when he says "telephone poles" I seem to remember them quite well.....lol
You're killin' me Charlie!
Keith
Sweet bows for sure!

Nice bow! Those things are way quieter (given the right attention, of course) than they have any right to be.
saweeeet bow congrats!!! :archer:
I was at a hunting camp last year in Louisiana and one of the guides there saw that I was a trad shooter. He said he had something for me and he came back later with a bow exactly like the one you show in the picture and gave it to me. It had been in his garage for many years but was in good shape. I have never shot it as it seemed really short for my 30" draw. I'm guessing from what everyone is saying here that I should rig it up and shoot it. What brace height did you settle on? I normally shoot a CE 250 with most of my set ups but that will probably be too stiff. A tuned CE 150 may do the trick. BTW, I did go back to camp later that year and brought the generous fellow a custom knife. It was too good a gift to not trade something back.
Very good on ya Horne, and good on him too!
I finally got 8 1/2" on the brace height, after a new string, thank you Charlie. Boy, I'll tell ya, I was really suprised at how quiet this bow really is, just a very small "thump", next thing I knew the arrow was there.
I can't believe that I haven't gotten one sooner, but I'm glad I finally did! Now I just have to start hunting for a couple more of them!!
Keith
Hey Keith. Glad it worked out for you. I do have some of the heavier spined wood shafts you can get also that you ask about. We can chat and get some made up to bare shaft and see what comes out of them if you want to. And with what you wanted to put up front on them, I think we might have a couple of things left up our sleeve to make them work.....lol......might have to dig real deep to figure it out though......lol
I like my Kmag alot, and am planning on getting another one (in a heavier weight) in the future. :D
Thanks Keith,
I'll start at 8 1/2" on the brace height and tune from there.
I feel like I just got a new bow!

I killed my first deer in 1976 with one.I sold it but quickly got another in 55lbs I still have it.Great little bows and one thing for sure the quiteist bow I ever had still use it sometimes.Kip
