On Nov. 1st after 2 yrs. of trial and error(mostly error)trying to reach a level of proficiency that I would be satisfied with, I was able to connect with this nice doe. A very special trophy for me having hunted 30+ yrs. with compounds after beginning with a recurve. I was able to take her on the ground at 14yds. while stalking through the woods. It was an unusual encounter because since she saw me first I continued walking as if I had not seen her. She appeared confused as I slowly moved parallel looking for an opening in the dogwoods avoiding her direct gaze. Once reaching the clearing I turned to ready myself for the shot but she was looking directly at me and as if on cue she turned broadside to leave and I took the shot. 40 yds. later I found the prize. The woodsman broadhead did its job; the CX150 Heritage with fletchings crafted from my sister-in-laws turkey this Spring flew straight; the Tomahawk Desert Fox 53#@28" performed smoothly. The roast I made I in the crock pot a few days before Thanksgiving never tasted so good.
