I own a dreamcatcher from Martin.Similar to your Hunter. Love it. I have pics of it on my flicker page. I took it to West Texas to hunt javalina and coyotes still delivered lotsa punch at distance over open ground. I use carbon shafts no problem. I have recently started hunting in the Texas hillcountry for hogs and whitetail from tree stands and stalking. Again, no worries. I prefer the "one-piece" recurve versus a takedown. I would suggest you purchase limb skins to protect your investment and for camo as well.

My first traditional bow was also a Martin Hunter, albeit a 60#er. The feral donkey in my avatar was my first traditional bowkill. I enjoyed using my Hunter, and took two donkeys, one brumby, one buffalo, and one billy goat with it, before giving it to my brother, who has taken three billy goats, a brumby, and a young boar with it.

Have fun, and good hunting to you!

Great bows!  The Hunter is a classic, and is probably the longest produced bow model of all time.  They have been building those in the old Howatt plant for over 40 years with hardly a change.

I've had many custom bows.  Right now I own one bow, a new 45# Martin Hunter.  It seems to kill deer just as dead as any of the customs I've owned.

Mine was a bit noisier than I like so I did the following:

Replaced the string with a 3-Rivers 62" Tomahawk replacement string.  The top loop might be a tad small, just pull it down the limb and stretch it a bit.

Calf Hair String Groove Silencers, again from 3-R, for the string grooves.

Musk ox string silencers.

Throw in some brush buttons too.

Your bow will be fast, quiet and deadly.  Enjoy!!!

Oh, BTW, Mine likes a brace height of 8" and my nock point is at half-an-inch.
