some time ago i was able to purchase 3 axis 500 nfused shafts i got them tuned with 125 gr tips the question is this . I would like to have a 500
gr. arrow at the present time the arrow is 350 gr.
There are so many differnet carbon arrows out there I don't know what to do next. Should i add weight tubes or a different shaft? Present shaft is 8.1 GPI. I had to build out my side plate a few times from leather to fuzzy velcro to present rug. My equiptment is :
Bob Lee Hunter TD recurve 60in. 52 at 27 I draw 26.5
I shoot split finger with tab.
Arrow: 500 axis efused 8.1 GPI with 125 gr tip 27.5 in. long.
I'm no expert but those should shoot fine still if you use a 100 grain broadhead adapter and a 125-145 grain head.
I would think those are a little stiff for your setup. Load the front end up and see what happens.
I don't think these will be too stiff. I shoot a 51lb St. Joe River 'curve with ICS Beman hunters 500,28" long with 3gr/inch wt. tubes and a 150gr. head. Fly awesome! When I bare shafted these all you can see is the nock.
Now the only real problem I have is when I hit something very hard (rock, oak tree etc.) the insert will come flying out the back and push the nock off.

I'm with Onions on the insert issue. I gave up on those tubes, along with rope, weed eater line, aquarium tubing, pipe cleaners, all that stuff. Now I'm using CX Heritage with 165 gr points. 565 grains, no nocks popping out. Way easier. If you want weight, go with a shaft that's more gpi, go a little stiff, and load up the front end.
thanks guys ill look for more input
Chubb,
Put some weight up front, it's easy and you will be amazed how your arrows fly. A 125gr steel broadhead adaptor plus any broadhead in 150 to 175gr area will get you up to 500gr. I use the 125gr adaptor and a 160gr STOS for 285gr up front or 300xtreme broadheads at 300gr screw in no adaptor needed. Bob Morrison at Morrison archery sells 250gr and 300gr field points as well.
thanks for the advice guys . ill check back later to see if i got somemore suggestions
do u guys have anymore suggestions
The above suggestions will solve your issue.
