Title: Harrison Siberian Wolf Limb Cores
Post by: Gil Verwey on November 25, 2008, 02:20:00 PM
I just bought a used Harrison Siberian Wolf. The owner was unsure of the limb cores. Does anyone know if Jack used carbon and tonkin bamboo in the Siberian Wolf?

Thanks
Gil

from reading his book he prefers tonkin in bows over 62". 62" and shorter he stated there was no gain from tonkin and he used osage or some other hardwood. just what i read but no expert by any means.

He mostly used boo for the cores, carbon back and belly. But I did own a Siberian with osage cores once. Great bows but do not let someone with a draw much over 28" pull it, they have been known to delam if pulled too far, that is one reason Jack quit making them. Oh, if that is the one from LW, it may not be a Siberian. I could not tell from the pics but the Siberian is a pretty radical design.

Thanks Danny, David Snipes said you might be able to help me determine if it is a Siberian or El Lobo. Pat said Siberian Wolf. What can I look for to determine which one it is. Did you see the three pictures? If not I can send them to you.

Thanks
Gil

PS How is that Robertson Pierce Point shooting?

Gil,

I sent you some pics of a Siberian, quite different from the pics you sent me. I mis spoke, most, if not all of the Siberians had osage as the core if I am not mistaken, no real expert on Jacks bows,LOL.

The person to talk to is Leo Markert, he knows all there is about Jacks bows, past and present, yes he is still making a limited number of bows, calls them the Jack B Harrison HSS.

Gil, that pierce point is the bomb as my grand kids would say,LOL.

Rusty that is the one. I think it is a El Lobo though. It is the perfect length and weight for me. I am happy it is the El Lobo instead of the Siberian Wolf.

Thanks
