Tom..Bentpole...aka Stiffrod was invited up to bowhunt with Team Pink/Tri State Terrors today.
Weather conditions weren't all that great and today was Youth Day in Jersey so we had to contend with young gun hunters. this kept us off some of our choicer spots. We dealt with 20 degree temps and 20 mph winds all day.
After the morning sit, we grabbed some lunch then proceeded to put a few drives on. We moved some deer around, a few close encounters but nothing hit the ground. Finally the wind died some for our evening sit and I watched 3 does work down towards me but zipper came down too fast on the light before they reached me.
It was a fun time hunting with Tom...Ol Stiffrod. Can't wait for January when we team up with the Jersey Boys for some winter bowhunting. A few pics from the day......

Now that is quite a crew
Looks like you guy's had a great day. See all of you in January
Mikey, I can't Thank You enough for the invite. I am honored to have been considered for a romp in the woods with the Tri-State Terrors /Team Pink .It was a great day for me even though the weather and most of the deer didn't co-operate. Joe almost drowned me when he was telling jokes while I was drinking a bottle of water.Came right out my nose. Joe has his Ed Mikuta Hybrid Longbow along and we flung a few arrows in between hunts.A very nice shooting bow indeed. Folks these three guys bent over backwards to make my day as great as it was.God willing maybe next year we can spend some time pounding the woods in two other States.Trad Gangers get ready for Winter Bow. All's we have to do is think and organize a little more and there will be meat down. Thank you Mike, Scott, and Joe! P>S> Hey Joe tell the Good Folks the history of that Green Down Vest.>>>-----> stiff rod
Really nice of you guys to get ol Bentpole out of the house! Hey Tom....nice bow!
Holy Cow! I forgot to Thank Vince from Mohawk Bows! Vince sent me a two piece with amber action BOO limb cores to try out.. This was his first with that as a core wood. I have to say my other bows are hanging. This is my go to bow now.
Glad Y'all had a great time. Thanx for saving the deer for Winter bow.
Again Happy B-Day Tom.
Thanks Sal! Yep we saved a few for Winter Bow.
Now that darn birthday boy sure gets around!!!HAPPY HUNTING & THAY SURE IS A PRETTY BOW!!!TAKEDOWN??????
Hey I think I know those guys! Real nice pictures Joe. I was out Sat morning it was 19 out when we headed into the woods and didn't get much warmer when my feet got numb and I left for a warmer place.
I'll add a few comments about our boy Stiffrod...
Contrary to what Bucky and Rhineart told us about hunting with Tom...we found just the opposite.
1. He is NOT "DIRECTIONALLY CHALLENGED". We pointed, he walked...he did fine.
2. He does not yell at the top of his lungs from his tree stand "Their heading your way Mikey!"
3. He NEVER comes empty handed. Don't know what you guys are talking about..Tom was passing out Candy and P&J Sandwhiches to anyone who wanted them.
4. HE IS NOT CHEAP! Tom offered to pick up the lunch tab...probably cause he ate more than anyone else.
5. He also is "not as serious" as you guys painted him to be...The stories he told about hunting with you guys had us in stitches all day! Sez he should start taking his video along and posting the tapes of You Tube...
6. He's a good shot. At 15 yds he was grouping his arrows all around a paper cup...using his bow and my Mikuta. He DOES NOT shoot 18" groups at 15 yds..as you stated.
The two things we agree on...yes..he is a walking advertizement for wool clothing from the Goodwill Store....from his underwear, sweater, jacket etc... AND he spends alot of time "watering the plants" as we walk through the woods.
Can't wait for January....dress light and bring your walking boots!
Looks like you guys had a great time.
... mike ...

Man,
When gas hits $1.00 I'll drive out from Minnesota and join you Jokesters...
:smileystooges:
Mitch you should come out any way. Gas here is 1.79 here in town where I live and I hear of gas prices lower than that in the area.
