I have a problem :) ... I bought a flem string and wax'd the crap out of it with "string makers wax" :help:
I use a piece of string material and double it over the string then run it back and forth.it gets most of the excess wax out of it
I have heard of folks washing them in acetone but have never done it myself. Bows where the string doesn't touch them limbs don't have that problem! :) ....O.L.
Get your string good and tight off the bow. Use bungees between doors or anything you can to get it tight. Take a piece of string material or sinew and wrap it around the string 1 time. You should have one end in each hand. Pull it tight and start sawing back and forth as you draw the peiece towards you. SHould pull out all the excess wax. PM me if you need help.
I wash the ends in ammonia
Bob Lee recommends dipping the ends of the string in lacquer thinner to quiet them down.
Why put extra scent into .....Never mind
If you are worried about the effect of harsh chemicals on the string material, use Naptha... get the coon urine scented kind.
:D
Wrap the loops in yarn. Also go down the string to where it doesnt contact the limb.
with the sring taught, burnish with leather at contact point(obviously off bow). If that doesn't solve , put in micro wave for 15sec then do same.

Paint thinner or mineral spirits will dissolve your problem. -ART B
Yep I use mineral spirits. Works great.
