Post by: Gehrke145 on November 16, 2008, 09:29:00 PM
Me and the girlfriend are thinking about getting some vacation/retirement land (lol got to plan ahead)looking for 3 hours or so from the ocean and ok hunting deer/hogs just looking for fun remote land (not asking for the king ranch here) just a little bit of land to hunt on and get away from the durango winter?  Figured I'd ask here and go for there.

once on landsoftexas, look on top of page....click on search by region. it will bring up a map of texas showing all of the regions numbered. look at the map, pick a region in the area you are interested in, then choose what you are looking for....size properties, just acreage, or acreage with homes.....get the checkbook ready cause it's all expensive.

I'm not looking for a giant track just tossing the idea around.  Found a few 100acre tracks that are cheap(compaired to here!).  Is that enough land to hunt on down there?  I have friends that go down alot but they hunt thousand acre ranches.

what billy said.
it is all  about location. if you are next to a ranch where they shoot everything they see you aren't going to get big deer, or if you get highfenced out you won't have alot of deer. it is all about location, and yes you can hunt 100 acres you aren't going to have much say as far as managing the deer herd goes as a larger place but you should see be alright depending on your location!!!!!
