Title: Broadhead Practice
Post by: dcolavito on November 16, 2008, 09:12:00 PM
Anyone know of a good target/material for broadhead practice?

Like many, I've tried a number of things, and more or less settled on straw bales (I'm cheap) -but seems like I need a small farm !!!

Be interestd in something that doesn't cost an arm/leg but holds up reasonably well.

Thanks,
Dave

Sand, ether a bank our a river bed, it's free.

Sand would win for durability but you can also stack cardboard up and then "sandwich" it between some 2x6 or 2X8 squeezed together with all-thread rod.  There's some money in the wood and all-tread but you can replace the cardboard for free usually.

Yep, sand is by far the best for broadheads.  It's the target that never wears out.

Thanks folks - good ideas, all of them.

I've also been shooting into a bank behind the house, but I live in "Rock Hill", and it's named way for a reason - whacked many a head on them rocks !

Stuff a burlap bag with shrink wrap. I get my bags at the local coffee shop and the shrink wrap in the trash area of Home Depot. I like the sand piles also.

Just have a pile of dirt delivered to your house.  Nothing better for BH's
