This ol' girl is the finest persimmon tree I've ever seen...and the deer coming in after dark seem to think so too. Now, if I can just catch this one particular buck in a staging area far enough away from the field to get enough light for a shot
Best of luck to ya bud!!!!!!!! :campfire:
Wish I had a half bushel to make some preserves.
Good luck JC. I never seen a persimmon tree before. I realy gotta get out of WI.><>
Good luck Bud!
I've got deer eating candy here too. But up here we call 'em apples. ;)
Man, what a 'simmon tree! This has been a good year for native fruit in GA. We had lots of grapes and persimmons at my club in Oglethorpe Co.
Hope you can outwit that old buck. Good luck! Pat
I'd be hard pressed to shoot a deer while I was eatin persimmons!
Our persimmons have long since fallen before season is here.
Luck!!
Jason
We had a great year for persimmons here in Maryland but most of ours have droped by now. That is a good looking tree Jerry
Go get him JC!
HEY I recognize that persimmon tree!!!!!! Good Luck.....and give Dad a call when you can. Tell the Family Hello....Wilson Clan
best of luck!
And all wrinkly like they are getting sweet! My brain puckers up every time I see one, but the properly aged ones are a treat! That place should be a lively one.
Killdeer :)
Those things look about right! I'll let you eat one first just to make sure! Good luck with that buck! :campfire:
they are ready dont forget to bite the seed open to see what you have knife, fork or spoon cant remember but the old saying had to do with the weather. good luck JC?
A Knife shape means there will be a cold icy winter (as in the wind will slice through you like a knife)
A Spoon shape means there will be plenty of snow for you to shovel.
A Fork shape means there will be a mild winter
that's it Thanks Benha it has been awhile.
Man you are lucky my grandma dosen't know where that tree is. You wouldn't have any persimmons left on it and i would have a bunnnnnccccchhhhh of cookies.
All the Persimmon trees around here were loaded with fruit this year. There are still a lot on the trees but between the deer and coons there aren't any left laying on the ground.
We cut some seeds a couple of weeks ago and they all had spoons. We'll see what the weather brings.
Dennis
I think the deer were smarter than us this weekend...we were out on the stands in cool temps with lots of wind and rain off and on...the deer stayed home in bed. If they came in for candy, they did so in the middle of the night.
Come get all the persimmons you want fellers...I don't think I could count how many this tree has on it.
Never heard of the seed tale before, I'll check on that one evening.
Stick with it buddy!! You'll get him.
I'm a big persimmon fan myself. Like to spend time under a good tree "grazing" a little at mid day.
I've got a good one just 70 yards from the house that I'll be feeding under soon. Will need to go nocturnal as it's in the neighbor's yard.
:bigsmyl:
Good looking country there JC. Nice to see grass, ours is covered in white stuff!
We lost most of the wild persimmons hereabouts in a blight when I was a teen... found one up in Berks Co. in full force...man I gathered up a hat full lyin on the ground and was eatin the bejabbers outa them!
Man, you S'uthin boys got it all..p'simmons and pecans! Almost makes up for the heat nad humidity! :)
I packed 2 five gallon buckets out of the woods last weekend, there at Mom's and I better get my share of the cookies and pudding!!
There is a big tree right down the road from my house most mornings i leave to go hunting there is a doe and fawn picking through them. I popped one in my mouth about three weeks ago man was that a bad idea my face still hasn't come back out of the pucker.
Looks like its just a matter of time JC. The deer here are being a little more reclusive right now too but those persimmons 'bout gotta work in your favor. Good luck. GY
Brother shake that thing down, scoop up as many as you can carry and put them out in front of your stand in the staging area. You'll get him then for sure.
Oh yeah, not sure if baiting is legal in GA. so if not disregard above statement.
Let me know if you have any luck with him.
