Title: Snakeskins ons Shrews?
Post by: Dave2old on November 16, 2008, 10:55:00 AM
Does anyone have a Shrew with "factory" snakeskin (it came that way from Gregg and Ron, as opposed to you putting it on yourself)? If so, I sure would love to see some pictures. And does it have any affect on how the bow shoots? Thanks, Dave

It won't have any effect on how the bow shoots. I bet Gregg has some pics if you want to send him an email. I have seen pics before, and the snakeskins looked really good.

I could only find a couple I did quite a while ago. I have applied snakeskins to several Shrews, but don't have many pics.

Thanks, Gregg. Gorgeous. I thot you were going hunting today? Tradtusker ... here's how it's done: You go ahead and put your order in and pay the modest deposit ... then you have many months to figure out exactly what you want as you wait impatiently in line for your turn to arrive. Meanwhile, you can while away time, as I do, by constantly pestering Gregg and Ron with questions and changing your mind about little details. Worked so well for me the first time, I turned around and got right back in line again! One of these days, you know, Ron may raise his prices! Ever hear the term "Going broke saving money"?  :biglaugh:

I've got the same problem as Tradtusker.
I know I want a short CH, it's the riser holding me back.  Do I get something fancy or just the standard.  Anyone know what the standard riser material is?

Thanks

TK  -- If you're missing something on sending the order form electronically, I'm missing it too. You can print it out and mail or fax it, but it's easier and more fun just to fill it out for reference and give Ron a call with the info. That's what I did.

If I'd had the sense to order a take-down the first time around, I wouldn't have to be pinching my pennies and suffering this long wait again. Ah, but neither would I be waiting for custom elk-antler tips and riser overlays from one of my own elk, rattler skin backing and more. The ultimate, truly custom bow! Call Ron tomorrow, as it seems the line grows by a few bows a day. Don't know how Gregg goes it.  :notworthy:        Dave

Standard riser material is Dymondwood.

Oder forms need to be mailed to Ron, or like Dave said, give him a call.  Unless you could scan it,or use PDF995 and convert to Acrobrat file and e-mail that way.  But he still needs to get a check or credit card number for the deposit.

He's hunting right now, and probably won't be back for another day or two.

Dave, yes I did go hunting today.  Check yer e-mail.  Can't post pic here, used a lead round ball for the projectile!

Ron had a Samurai a couple years ago with Copperheads on it...it was gorgeous!  He may have a picture.

Thanks Javaman.  I'm curious, what riser wood do you like to work with the most and which do you just plain like the most?

Paul,

Dymondwood is about the easiest.  Cocobolo, Kingwood, and Bocote are the prettiest, IMHO.

Ron had Bob Morrison put those copperheads on his bow if I'm not mistaken. Call Bob if your interested in skins nobody does it better.

Hunt it is correct.  Bob applied the copperheads to Ron's Samurai that John McCullough made several years ago.  Bob has shared with me a couple tricks that have improved my applications as well.
