If you find yourself needing to boil a skull I highly recommend getting some of this stuff. Apparently Arm and Hammer washing soda is pretty similar and can be picked up at most grocery stores. Just cleaned a majority of flesh and fat off a buck skull in the recommended boil time (1/2 hr). If you haven't had the pleasure of boiling skulls before, that is real fast. Just have to be careful how long you boil as you can see the bone getting porous if left in too long. I'm finishing up with plain water right now. Figured some of you are already using it but some may not have heard of it yet.
Enjoy!!

as a taxidermist for 15 or so years I have found that sal soda to be some of the best for cleaning skulls.
HINT: when cleaning out the brain cavity, do NOT use compressed air.
Please don't ask me how I know, I'd rather not relive that day.

or a pressure washer :)
I found a toothbrush can reach and clean some tight areas quickly, ah just make sure ya throw it away afterwards!
Greg and Caleb, Seems we all have the same tendencies... Not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but either way I can't stop laughing right now.
Thanks,
Nathan
Hey Doug, It's funny you should mention that cause earlier today I found a toothbrush that I'm not sure what it's been used for. Looks new, smells new, but god only knows what it's been used for. I Started writing in sharpie on my "work" toothbrushes.
Again I can't stop laughing, this place is great!

Toecutter, I'm laughing too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's done things like this.
Writing on the work toothbush usually comes right after you realize your mouth tastes like Hoppe's #9.
Don't ask me how I know that one either.

You guys are not supposed to clean guns and skulls in the bathroom! :goldtooth:
