We've had fun this season but it's been tough on us. Their aren't many acorns in the bottoms where we hunt so all the deer are in the mountains and are coming to the bottoms at night after dark.We've hunted more and harder than normal this year. I killed a swamp rabbit and missed a spike over a salt lick on the 2nd day. We finally moved up on the mountain today. It was about 4:00 when a doe walked out at 13 yards And I missed AGAIN right over its back. I'm not gonna give up, I just hope it gets better. Dad has really worked hard to get me in the best spots. I really appreciate it. Here are some pics.... Skyler...son you are doing great, just have to fine-down that shooting. :saywhat: It took me seven years to get my first buck with the bow..from 1965 to 1972 here in Pa. You have a lot of years ahead of you, just hang in there and keep the faith.

Ok guys, that's just my arrow after i missed. No dead deer yet. I've killed 2 hogs with my recurve and a lot of deer with a gun, I just get a little nervous on the trad bow thing. I killed that rabbit at 21 yards then missed the deer at 8 yards just a few minutes later. :knothead: :banghead: I've had several other deer up close and very personal the last few days but the shot just wasn't right so I passed and know that was the right thing to do. Dad tells me that I'm learning something with every encounter and screw-up..... ..... I LOVE it!!!!!!!!! SKYLER

Don't feel bad, I missed a tom turkey at 7 yards out of my pop up. The eighth so far in about two weeks! 0-8! Beautiful places you're hunting. Stay at it!

You'll remeber those hunts with your dad for a lifetime. Each and every miss gets you closer like Charlie says. Your time will come. Just enjoy the outdoors and your time afield with dad, your young and have many years ahead. Good luck and I look forward to your adventures.
Have fun. But more important PAY ATTENTION. If you learn this stuff at your age by the time you're old enough to get around on your own you'll be racking them up.
First congrats as it lQQks like you and your father are having a great time hunting together. Great to see someone like yourself with trad gear.
Hitting those smaller animals is sometimes alot easier for some. Smaller target, more consentration, bigger target less on the spot to hit. Has happened to me and others alot. We see the whole deer instead of consentrating right behind the frong leg. Pick that one hair, blank out everything else then drill him. You will do it.
Relax and enjoy your time in the great outdoors with your Dad. Your are creating memories that will last the rest of your life.

I think you just need to concentrait on picking a spot, and grit your teeth if you have to.

Skyler and I both thank yall for the support. He's one lucky 13 year old to have a grandfather, Uncle, and a couple of very good friends who have always made sure he got to hunt whenever he wanted too. He's been hunting with me all of his life....1st Duck Blind at 2, Deer stand at 2, and so on....I remember him in a tree with me when he was 4 and I shot a doe with my bow at about 10 yards, He looked at me and yelled "we got him Dad". He's taken deer, turkeys, and a lot of hogs but those white tail deer, up close and personal, tear him up.....I'm a very fortunate Man and I'm proud of him. Hunting is a very serious part of our Life. It's the way I make a living and I hope he continues to love it, the way he does now...Don
