What did the 1st Marine say to the 2nd Marine?
"You should have been here when it was really tough"!

On a more serious note:

The Secretary of the Navy, James Forrestal, had decided the previous night that he wanted to go ashore and witness the final stage of the fight for the mountain. Now, under a stern commitment to take orders from Howlin' Mad Smith, the secretary was churning ashore in the company of the blunt, earthy general. Their boat touched the beach just after the flag went up, and the mood among the high command turned jubilant. Gazing upward, at the red, white, and blue speck, Forrestal remarked to Smith: "Holland, the raising of that flag on Suribachi means a Marine Corps for the next five hundred years."

To all Marines - Thank you

A heart felt Happy Birthday!  Was sick in bed this weekend.  Spent 10 hrs watching "The War" by Ken Burns.  I can't even imagine the courage it takes to be a soldier.  Very glad so many fine men out there have that courage!  Thank you!

No disrespect intended, but what does this thread have anything to do with traditional archery?

little tree no disrespect take....I'm pretty happy that you can read.Because of that reason I Yeild to the MARINE CORPS ARCHERS that have given you the privilege. So many take that simple fact for granted these days. That would be how I will tie that into TRADITIONAL ARCHERY........SIR

Happy Birthday and Semper Fi , Brothers and Sisters.
Little Tree,
the Marine Corps was 'born' 10 Nov 1775 in Tun Tavern, Philadelphia; they were some of the men who fought for and won this Nation. This nation that has allowed Freedom to continue to ring.
The men and women who have and continue to serve are carrying on that Tradition!
I for one, think, the fact that you can be online and ask that question is reason enough to have served.

Marines harken to the old days-traditional warrior ethic with modern equipment-like putting a Wensel rather than a flint point on cedar.  No offense taken.  1970 to 1996 with lots of silver hair to show for the experiences.Semper Fi, brothers and sisters.  And to our sister services-thanks for the support, could always count on you!

No offense taken Little Tree.  I guess I should have started the post by saying that I have some arrowwraps from onestringer that depict the Marine Corps flag, can someone help me apply  them to my arrows and OH by the way, Happy Birthday Marines.

Guess I forget the arrow wrap part.
