My wife is at school in Orlando until 15 MAY 08 and I have been looking for a place to hunt hogs w/o paying per day and per hog. I am also getting her into bowhunting and hogs is a fun way to start. I lived at/hunted Fort Stewart in the late 90s so have experience and don't want a "guide". I have googled the subject, but the rules and information is so confusing. Anyone have any ideas? If posible prefer a bow only public land hunt.
Thanks
Mike
Correction, make that 15 May 09
Go to myfwc.com and click on the link for hunting. When you get there, you want to click on 2008-2009 Individual WMA Regulations and Maps.
Ignore all information regarding special opportunity or quota hunts because it is too late for that. Somwe WMA are only open for special opportunity so ignore them. What you want is a WMA that is open for a general gun season (can bowhunt too) or extended archery season. WMAs in the North Central Zone and the South West Zone are closest to you.
IN the maps/regulations for each WMA, there is a section that tells you what type of license you need to hunt there. THe ones you are looking for should be just a hunting license, WMA stamp, and archery permit.
Good luck and have fun.
Be sure to check out the Florida (TBOF) link on this site and look into the 2009 shoot dates. You will be in the state for our charity shoot and our spring shoot (state championship). The shoots are about an hour and a half north of you.
