ok I know I been putting up a few posts about certain name brand bows, but man its hard to decide when there are so many good bows out there!! lol
but its stops right here, I been looking into mohawk bows for a bit now, and finally realized it....I wanted a mohawk bow!!!
so I'm planning on placing an order this December =D
So I was wondering....for you Mohawk owners
how the bow working out for yea?
how would you compare it to other D-shaped boows?
thanks guys
-Christian
I've had a couple, can't really compare to other "D" bows, but Vince's Mohawk is a Very Fine bow, I'd go with his Cocobolo Handle & Dirty Boo Limbs, Very Quiet, Real Smooth & quick for this style of L/B, Vince is "TOPS" by the way ....
I agree with Adam they are fine bows. Compared to some of the other "D" shaped bows I've had my Mohawk is faster, smoother and with less handshock. i got the two piece, can't beat it for the price. Mine also has the cocobolo riser and dirty boo limbs. A very well made bow.
Ron Buehler
cocobolo and and dirty boo are really popular huh..vince kept bringing it up, but I'm a suck for the camo lookin actionwood, might have cocobolo in the riser as a flare though, ether that or ebony... and action boo with action action wood veneers....what do you guys think?
and Ron I can decide between the 1 or 2 piece!!
its so hard trying to decide how you want you first custom bow
:knothead: :knothead:
Christian, If you ever plan on traveling by air [to Alaska] with your bow? Buy the 2 pc. as now Alaska Airlines limits you to one pc of checked luggage. You can put it and your arrow case in a duffle or suit case. I understand extra bags are costing $50 each now. Hope this helps in your decision.

best bang for the buck awsome shooters!!
wow, very nice looking bows, please post pic's when ya get it!
Mohawks Bows!!?? I've owned and shot alot of bows.I have a 64"er 46#s that I shoot tapered cedars out of. They fly like darts out of this bow. Cocoabolla riser with 2 white stripes 4 tonkin cane lams. The workmanship is outstanding. Vince recently mailed me an "experimental" 2 piece. His first with amberactionboo cores and beautiful red elm veneers. Two tone bocote/cocoabolla riser. I told him this bow is even prettier than mine. The handle has a little more meat than mine, being a 2 piece. It really balances nice in your hand.I wasn't crazy about the connection hinge but Vince puts top secret materials in the riser. It's bazooka proof. Man does this bow hit hard. It's a 62"er and 52#s @ 28"s[49#s for me @ 27"s].Vince wants me to hunt with it and wack something with it.I can't understand why he's running about 6 weeks on orders. As cheap as his prices are he should have a year backup. It has to be a labor of love. If you figure it out the guys making about 10 bucks an hour. He will definately have to raise his prices soon. As far as dealing with Vince as a bowyer,he is # One. He'll bend over backwards to meet your demands. I'm proud to call him a Bud.
Pics of that cocobolo handle/dirty boo would be great, too!
Check out Vince's web site and click on bows. He has a bunch posted and most you can click on and make the photo's larger.
bentpole your right about the amount of labor he puts into his bows for such a great price!
thats why I gotta act quick!!
he really will give you a truly custom bow for an amazing price! lol I cant get over it!!
I have one on order. 64" 55@28 cocobolo riser, boo cores and red elm veneers. I will post pics when I get it...should be here by the end of Dec.
Pics?
Great Bows You'll love it!
KY :archer:
its next on my list of bows to get
My next one will be a two peice. Vince is top-notch.
Looks like I'll be ordering a two piece in the future too. I'm really impressed with the one I have. I want to try a 66"er and a little 60" too some day.Easy to draw, hits where you look, quiet [even without silencers], and no hand shock at all. I'll have to post some pictures and start a thread soon.
Had 2 Mohawks and they are classic looking bows.Shoot excellant in every way.
Personally I would go with exotic woods in the riser for that bow.Mine had Coco bolo and the other had a split riser with Coco bolo and Bacote I believe.Actionwood camo on that bow would detract from its elegance and naturalness IMO.
All tonkin boo limbs or tonkin boo core with red elm or some other wood for the outer 2 layers would be nice and provide a natural camoflaged effect if thats what you looking for.Just my opinion for a classic and elagant looking bow.I will get another one someday myself when the budget allows.
good luck with it!
I have two - a one piece with all yew limbs and another that is a two piece with bamboo inner lams and back and belly of yew (you can see the bow on Vince's site - Yew and Boo!). I have a Morrison, Fox, Horne as well as several others hanging on the wall while I shoot the Mohawk. Rick
Rick, I really like the looks of your Yew and Boo Bow. I feel the same as you by the way. I shoot the Mohawks the others are hanging.
Thanks very much for all of the positve comments about Mohawk longbows, it REALLY means a lot to me!
Bentpole....while you are messin around on the computer that big 8 is walking around under your stand waitin for a Mohawk moment!!
i traded mine for a black widow. :help: what was i thinkin ? man i miss that bow
Yeah, I let a few go also,, "STUPID" !!! But I've got my eye on that "OSAGE" Vince has !! Just gotta get through the Holidays first,, my son gave me his X-Mas list !! Man Ole Man !!
Yeah I know Vince keep your fingers and little piggies crossed. Going out in the AM should be around 30 degrees with a high in the 50's.They should be chasin' does or sure.Make sure you and Carol say a little prayer for bentpole tonight. Thanks Bud. I'll call you tomorrow. The Mohawk Alaskan is ready to go!
Christian,
I am in the same boat as you. I am seriously looking at the Mohawk for my first trad bow. I have looked at a lot of bowyers' work but keep coming back to the Mohawk. I'm thinking either cocobolo or bacote with all cane limbs 60" LH.
Craig.
glad to hear that new trad, this will be my first custom ever!
Hey vince I think I will be able to send the deposite by the end of the month =]
Deadpool....check PM's
just ordered a new one...could'nt take it anymore. :D :scared:
Uh ooh, Larry! You gonna need to borrow my dog house? :biglaugh:
woof  :D
how you like that bow wannabe ?
Love it! Man it shoots better than I was expecting. Now I see what you were talking about. Was going to give it to my wife to shoot but, think I will keep it for myself. :bigsmyl: Looks like I've got another reason to get another bow! For her I mean. :biglaugh:
Larry, It is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. I am thinking about thining out the herd to purchase a Mohawk. They have definately caught my eye.
its all good...i can't remember the last time i was outta the dog house...my new bow is zebra wood handle with boo core and some really light phased red elm on back and belly that vince says is very nice...so should be a beauty to look at and shoot. :D
just got to pay for the new bow and a mohawk will be headed my way, vince is a great guy to talk to about bows
aaah everyone is beating it to me! lmao
better hurry man...
At the top of my 'most wanted bow' list. :archer:
Heard mighty good reports on them.
I bought one from Steelhead here off the classifieds. One of the best looking and smoothest drawing bows I've ever shot. It's 47@28 but I draw about 49. It draws so smooth it felt 10 pounds lighter than its marked. I even put it on a scale to make sure and it draws exactly what it's marked. Mine is Cocobolo and dirty boo. It just disappears in the woods. You can't go wrong with a Mohawk.
aaaaah man vince needs to get back from his hunt! lol
I'm gonna place the order as soon as he does! =D
sweeeeet...you'll love it :clapper:
so.....I guess its official!
I finally placed an order for a Mohawk!
aww man I'm so excited!
Congrats young man! What woods did you decide on? Tomorrow is the last day of permit bow in Jersey. :scared: I'll be taking the 64"er, tapered cedars,Zwickey Eskimos, if I see one it's goin' down!
im goin for a combination of charcoal diamond wood or ebony and curly maple stained to a crimson color with cocobolo accents, and charcoal stained bamboo limbs =]
what do you guys think?
Sounds like you'll have a sweet lookin (and shootin) bow. Curly maple is one of my favorites...Mike
I hope it's not too pretty. You might not want to take it in the woods.
if thats the case I will just have to put some seram wrap on it lol
Naw, they just get purtier with the "beauty marks" they get in the woods :) Enjoy the bow, can't wait to hear what you think. I got my eye on these bows as well...Mike
Ordered one in my weight just like this one.
