Title: Conundrum
Post by: Rick Wiltshire on November 05, 2008, 06:16:00 PM
I just picked up a beautiful Buddy and Jim bow that is 8# - 10# too heavy for me.  Milton has said that he would reduce and refinish the bow for me.  I need to decide if I want to pay to have the bow reduced and refinished or sell it to someone who can handle the weight.

I need another bow like I need a hole in my head, but I do not have a Buddy and Jim bow - thus my conundrum.

What to do - what to do????

You can never have too many bows... get the weight lowered and refinished

Rick, since Jim and Buddy don't make bows anymore, and since it is a good investment (you know they are sought after), and since you already have it in your posession; it seems like such a shame to sell it.    :D

Well if Milt reduces the weight and refinishs it, is it really a Jim and Buddy bow?

Hmmmm. .....?

Does anyone know if Jim or Buddy are still available, and willing, to do a weight reduction?

Personally I would not do a weight reduction. I saw and shot one Of Jim and Buddy's bows that was reduced by 10 pounds. They did the work. The bow limbs came out way to skinny for my taste. It just looked to fragile to me.
This is my opinion and I would if I were you ask whoever does the work what to expect when you get it back.

What is the weight of the bow now?

If it's altered, it won't be a collectible anymore.
