Here is the deal: I just got a Morrison ILF riser from a friend and have shot it a lot in the last week. I feel that it is the best shooting hunting recurve that I have ever owned (and thats a lot). I have shot recurves for hunting for about 15 years and about the last 10 I have shot FITA (olympic) target with a recurve. I feel like the FITA experience gives me an edge on tuning any ILF type bow and I have gotten the Morrison ILF to SHOOT exactly as I like.........but its loud.
I have shot it with two sets of limbs. The first is a set of Hoyt 900CX shorts making a 56" bow pulling 58# at 27". The second is a set of Hoyt G3 shorts pulling 50# at 27#. The G3 limbs are bearable (sorta) noisewise.......the 900CX limbs are crazy loud.........but they also are crazy fast.
I have made a string with both 8125 and D97 and this didn't make much difference. I have also used rubber and fiber silencers and placed them at varying distances and in varying numbers with little effect. Limbsavers made no difference. I am shooting a 450gr arrow.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Matt
p.s. I REALLY want to hunt with this bow this year.......but I don't need a deer to jump out of its skin when I shoot!
Have you tried a heavier arrow yet? How about Bow Hush?
Get a set of Bob's limbs,LOL. Do not know if they are quieter or not but heard they are the bomb.
Danny
I also needed a higher brace height than was listed on Bob's site for mine to quiet down.
Raise your brace height.Ilf limbs are not designed to be shot at low brace heights reguardless of who's riser they are on. jmo
