Title: Making a one piece into a two piece
Post by: tackhammer on November 01, 2008, 10:04:00 PM
I traded for a long bow that I would like to make a two piece, has anyone done this and if so where can I get it done? I have not shot the bow yet so if it changes the way it shoots I wont know what I am missing.   :D

Hello Gary,

I had Ted Frye at Raptor archery cut a one piece Morrison Cougar in two pieces for me.  Ted used the Warren Bow Bolt system, at my request and did a fine job.  I would recommend Ted's workmanship to anyone.

I also sent a Black Widow LAG back to the boys at Black Widow.  They installed the Talon system, which has one "U" shaped component.  Black Widow folks did a nice job on this retrofit also.

There are several techniques out there for the lock-up devices, suggest you first decide what type of lock-up device, then find the craftsman to do the work.

The shape of your longbow riser handle will play a part in the hardware selection process.

Good Luck with your project.
