Title: Legal draw weight for Ontario???

I have a friend in Ontario that wants to take up bowhunting so I am going to build him a longbow but want to keep it a suprise and I need to know what draw weight is legal for deer and moose in Ontario.He lives in the Fenlon Falls area. Thanks, Bob

Bob,

Here it is, Moose 48.5lbs minimum at 27.6" draw length and Deer 39.7 lbs at 27.6" draw length. Direct from page 22 Ont hunting regs

Sorry if I am hijacking this thread, but a seemingly odd question comes up.  Does a lesser weight bow qualify if you draw it more?  Case in point, my Shrew is 59#@32 (I draw 32").  That bow is something like just 48# at 27.6"......

My other bow is 56#@32", and likely even less than the legal listed minimum.....

yet both are, at my draw, above the regulation minimum.

I can't speek for Ontario but in BC it's 40 lbs at your draw length but 50lbs for bison/buffalo at your draw length. minimum 7/8" wide broadhead for all.  minimum arrow weight 400 grains and broadhead weight 8.1 grams for bison.

Thank you David, I guess I'll build him a 50 lb.@ 28" and that should cover it.I know his draw is 28" or more and he will probably hunt deer and small game more than moose. Thanks again, Bob
