SO I recently Got A Bob lee Signature Elite Longbow #55@28" and 62" long on Trade. Took it out Day one Put the Brace at 8"And it sounded like a car crash. I put on String leeches which I use on all my other bows with great success and it wis still VERY loud, SO my last resort was to ***GULP*** Put on Limb savers. I experimented with Several spots on the limbs and It's still loud, I want to keep the bow It shoots tight groups and Shoots strong, It's Damn Sexy too, But Compared to my others it's loud.. Any suggestions??
bow hush and hush puppies, I went through the same thing with mine and the this quieted it right down!
How would the bow hush help if the string doesnt really contact the limbs? I can understand if it were a recurve...but.
Change the string. Try TS plus
Did you try a lower brace height, heavier arrow, different string, etc?
Try a 452 string or a dynaflight 97 string with fur silencers eg beaver try diffrent brace heights mabe 6.75 to 7" vermonster is right on track what has worked for me good luck if you cant Quiet it send it to me i will sort it out and let you know how Quiet I got it HA HA ! :smileystooges:
My arrows are 550 gr. I have not tried Different strings, which might be an option. I STARTED with the brace at 7.5 It sounded like a freight train...then moved it to 8" got better
Try it at 7" just for grins. Sometimes the other direction works.
I will..I'll go back down in 1/4" adjustments and see what happens, Thanks kids, My next stop is strings... Ugghh!!
Df 97 either 10 strands with padded loops or 14 strands. TS plus 14 strands. I think the TS is quieter but requires a little more checking the brace. If that string has been shot alot it may be worn out. Also check your nock fit. Good luck.
Here is my set up and it's pretty quiet. My strings are 14 strand 8125 with padded loops, and I use four catwhiskers, that are tied 7.5" and 12.5" from the end of the string loops. The catwhiskers are 1.25" inches long with fifty strands in each ball. I also use ultra quad limbsavers at the fadeouts. My bow is 54" and my brace is at 7 3/8". Currently shooting 10 gpp.

My Lee t/d longbow is very quiet? Not sure what kind of string I'm using other than it is not B50 and my brace-height is lower than the pic shown by Ryan.
Even with relatively light (8.5gpp) arrows it is quiet.
Kind of a puzzler to me 'cause I own several sets of limbs and multiple risers and they've all been quiet without much work.
I've never owned a Bob Lee that was loud. Course I've never used fast flite on one either.Call Rob and tell him about the problem. Bet he'll help you out even though you bought the bow second hand.
Matty ooops my goof up there mine is a recurve! I have no suggestions for the lingbow limbs.
I guess loud is a relative term, In comparison, to my other bows It's certainly LOUDER Many times louder. I mean I can BARELY hear my Shrew and my pronghorns are super quiet as well. I could be nit picking. Or micro managing my equipment..
Drop Mr. Lee an e-mail im sure he would be glad to help you out
I had a Bob Lee take down recurve It also was VERY loud.I had a factory string, started with factory recomended brace hight went up and down, two sets of string silencers, mole skin between string and limbs. Finally gave up and got a Shrew. I am now a happy camper.
How close is the tiller on that bow ?

I started using the string leaches by limb saver this year. Not much to look at but very functional in the field. No burrs, dont absorb water. One or two pair combined with the rubberweed stoppers work wonders.
Have you tried putting a gasket/shim between limbs and riser You can get them from lee or make your own out of thin plastic. It worked for me.
Bob Lee recommends you dip the ends of the string in lacquer thinner to remove the wax and quiet things down, I know that I need to brace my Lee recurve a lot higher than they suggest and it likes a heavy arrow to get it to quiet down, it is real critical on brace height when it comes to noise.
I use a B50 string with wool at the ends (yes, even on a longbow) and wool silencers, 8" brace. Very quiet. The wool on the ends made a big difference.
The rubber gaskets are already there in place. I get to shoot it again tomorrow so I will give some of these things a try. Thanks for everyones help I'll keep yall updated
OK RAISED THE BRACE UP TO 8 1/2" AND IT SHUT THE BOW BIG TIME. I ALSO PUT LIMBSAVERS ON IT BEFORE I RAISED THE BRACE HEIGHT I'M SURE THEY HELP! AND IT DOESNT HURT TO KEEP THEM THERE SO I'LL WORRY WHEN THEY FALL OFF. THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT.
Matty, have a B.L. Sig. L/B also and there is only one time it got noisy, limbs were loose. I had not checked them in a long time, run about 8" on B.H. with pair of W.W. (Quiet): My brother also has the same with string leaches and it is quiet, we both use B50. Just a thought!
Thanks bob I think getting that brace ht up really helped..
