My Buddy Joey in Texas killed this snake last night - I've never seen one that big, nor has he nor anyone else in the family that lives on 1200 acres 60 miles west of San Antonio.
He said 19 rattles ... he didn't measure it but with that 32" wood shaft I'm saying that snake pushes 65" .... maybe 70" ?

Handsome beast!
WOW!
wow
That'll hurt ya!!
nice looking bow limbs coming right up. hope he skinned it that is.
That's one big snake.
Everything is bigger in Texas including da snakes.
I'd say in the 5-5.5 ft range for that one. The biggest one I have caught down here had 24buttons and stretched across the road when I first saw it. When I grabbed it by the tail, my hand would not close all the way around and she must have weighed about 30#. Yup I'd say we got big'uns down here.
Big snake!
Hang that monster off your porch on Halloween and I bet you get to eat all the candy yourself.
In 1970 when I was still in high school and living in Beeville, Texas, my brother and I killed one that was 6'6" long.
We were walking down a wide cattle trail when it stuck at us. Luckily it missed. I still think that we hold the record for the standing side-jump! My brother shot it in the head with a pellet gun, and I put a broadhead just behind the head.
We skinned it out and treated it with linseed oil. While I was off to college, my brother somehow talked our mother into sewing it onto blue felt. When I get a chance, I'll take a photo and post it.
You must have been in the Cache River Bottoms. There are some monsters in there. I miss the place.
" HOLY CRAP " Man that is a BIG snake. You could skin a whole felf bow with that one.
Mike
Did you eat the meat? Taste just like chicken.
I would have S**T my pants. Never seen a Rattler and do not want to. Dead or alive. How do you guys do it down South. Flint
iam glad it is dead one less snake to worry about. :clapper: :biglaugh:
First snow today in Penna, an I,m not complaining a bit, not even any snow snakes here. I don't know how you souther can hunt with snakes that big out an about , I,d be staring at the ground all the time. Dam thats a biggun. Later Bob
:scared:
I just came along this fella whilst out last week. It's a black head python. Bout 7 foot I'd guess. Left him where he was, in the sun.

Any other sanke in my part of the world gets a judo or a hex blunt.
AK.
That's a beauty. Downside is that the pattern is too large to do much with, skinwise. Killed one in Fl that had 14 sections on the rattle and measured a horizontal 70" and a vertical(gravity stretched) 74" . Got it with my trusty Silvertip. I'd be happy to send a pic to anyone who may be smart enough to post it
Beautiful animal! Same for your python Al ;)
I always feel a little pang of shame seeing such a beautiful, noble old Patriarch (or Matriarch) dead, but there again, I ain't gotta live with poisonous snakes! :D
I was wondering if you ate it too. Wonder if they get tough when they get big / old??
They eat fine. Better than gator
That n would make ya set funny for a second it would!!!! Them things cause some BAD dreams .!

Oh Man, if you did not have a picture of a real snake that statement could be taken the wrong way. Ive always wanted to get a big snake like that and have it mounted.
Biggie, between you and the snake, your bow looks like a little twig. :D
So Biggie, while snake hunting, you wear Sitka Gear on the top and Mossy Oak on the bottom. Whatya kill if you reverse the order? :biglaugh:
Biggie wins. Mine was only 6'2"
Biggie: we don't snakes that big here in Idaho....I am suffering now from genus envy !! :bigsmyl:
I shot a 5 foot 9in western diamondback it texas, I had a full body mount done on it, I figure that I will never get another one that big.
I have also killed two 4 foot timber rattlers on my property.
Here's another big Texas rattler. Caption should say "Be afraid, (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x263/draco044/SnakesAlive004.jpg) be very afraid"
