I shot a doe this morning at 9am. She was farther than I would generally think of shooting, matter of fact if I would of knew the exact yardage before the shot I doubt that I would of shot her but I did use a rangefinder after recovery(I use mine as a monocular) to range my tree and were the deer was standing at the shot. Lets just say it was far enough that the arrow seemed to take 2 minutes to get there. Caught her behind the shoulder and heard her crash about 10 seconds later. It was way to cool!
I was using my Dan Toelke 52 inch recurve that is 50@28 and a 29 3/4 beman mfx 500 with a 100 grain brass insert and 125 grain thunderhead. The tip reached the other side but not really sticking out the other side.

Thanks, really this is my first deer I have killed with a recurve. I have missed a couple and I wounded one that I later shot during shotgun season. If you saw were I hit her you would of thought that I have done it thousands of times. I guess though this year I have shot alot in my yard. Thank god for those G5 small game heads, I do not think that I would of been able to make the shot if I wouldn't of shot leaves and dandolions in the yard for hours on end!

Chris, was off work today forgot to give you a call, went hunting tonight didnt see anything but a coyote and he was past me by the time I stood and grabbed my bow...came out of woods and 3 deer were standing behind my truck..
That is about as good as when you come home and you have three in your backyard and how many times has that happend to us. I don't know though if they are by my truck they knew I was out there and are really trying to rub it in my face that they are some what in control when you and them are out in the woods.

after skinning the deer I was some what amazed of what damage the thunderhead did on the my deer. The entrance wasn't that bad, but the exit looks like a shot from a 12ga. at 10 yards. Should of used a 2 blade, I don't know if it would of damaged as much. What do you all think?

Thanks George, I just got done shooting at stuff in the yard, I would of went hunting but had nobody to watch both or just one of the girls. I would take one, but not both at the same time.
