When I first joined up here there was a frequent poster from BC that went by the handle of "walkingstick". At least I think that is right and I am sure his last name is Bruner and the first name Keith seems right. Long story short, the factory he had worked in for years fired everyone and hire "migrant" workers and he and his wife packed up and headed into the bush to live. Before he left, he inquired about a lefty Hill that I had listed and wanted to trade some yew staves for it. I said "sure" and a few weeks later I got a nice stave in the mail with a note saying that when he found another nice one, he'd send it my way. About 18 months later, he emails me from a library to tell me he hasn't forgotten and just to catch up a bit. Real good guy going thru some tough times and I tell him we are good on the trade and not to worry about another stave. Now I know that the email was well over a year ago, but this past week I get a cardboard tube in the mail. Immediately the wife wants to know when I had ordered a new longbow....go figure! I open the tube and there is a 6' yew 1"x2" backed with what appears to be hickory and it has a hardwood (hickory?) 1"x2" glued on for the riser section. Return address is-Bruner and a post office box! Looks like I got my winter project ahead of me. If anyone is ever in contact with Mr. Bruner, tell him his buddy Mike, from Indiana says "thank you"! Trad folks are good folks! Mike
Wow that's amazing. I hope you can get in touch with him.
Decent bloke, by the sounds of it. I hope he's doing alright.
Send a letter to the return address P.O. Box.

I agree,
I am going to send a note to the address this week. Last time we were in contact, he said he picked up his mail every month or two, but he will eventually get it I am sure. I was hoping that some of the other "old timers" on here would remeber him and maybe had some more recent contact with him......just wondering how he was doing! Mike
I remember who you mean. I've not had any personal dealings with him but I do recall him as a frequent poster. Good guy from what I remember and certainly from what you've posted too.
Great story...just the type of fellow you hope would be a part of this site. ;)
I'm always impressed with the type of character of people this TRADGANG site brings. Goes to show ya - How great people can be if they treat people right.... I enjoy the comments and people here as much as the info shared... Great Post Mike....
I figured there might be some of the other "oldtimers" jump on here. I am gonna have to start spending some time over on the bowbench forum.....don't want to mess this one up! Mike
