Post by: Al Kidner on October 25, 2008, 03:27:00 AM
G'day all

Well I have a question in regards to the below pic...

I'm after one of those type of side satchel bags (if thats what there called?) that this hunter has over his left shoulder.

Kinda looking for the same "Look" you see.

AK.

It's called a possibles bag around here.  Black powder supplies should have em.

 Try this place (http://www.blackpowderbags.com/)

AK.

Check out Dixie Gun Works, Track of the Wolf, and of course the auction site E**y.

Also Art Vincent make some nice products and does custom work if you are interested in something like that.

Roughcoutry here on Trad Gang makes some really nice leather products but not sure if he takes orders.

Good luck in your search.

I'm sure Mike @ Mikes Archery Leather could do one to your specs. He is a sponsor here.

Tandy Leather sells a possibles bag kit. It was one of the first projects I did when I started doing leather work. It can be made with or without the fringe.

German Ridge makes that bag if you have trouble finding it elsewhere.

if your not dead set on leather. I went to target and got one of those ridiculous man purses they sell for about 10.00. Trimmed the flap a little, dipped it in brown RIT dye and Presto. Really nice possibles bag for next to nothing.

It was fairly thick cotton fabric and as a bonus it's washable

Years ago I purchased a Filson Field Bag like the one pictured above. That bag has been on many hunting trips over the years and still looks nearly like new. They are not cheap by eany means (though I now consider mine a bargain compared to today's prices). But the Filson bags  are of such excellent quality that I know that I'll never have to purchase another one due to wearing it out.
