Well with the snow storm we are supposed to be getting right before the weekend I finally got off to go hunting some questions came to mind. It seems everyone has their preference when it come to how much snow we have for deer hunting so I though id Get a poll going and see what the "experts" think..Pry better make it two parted one for muleys and one for whitetail.Obviously we have no control over the weather but just curious on what youd prefer if ya did. Please explain your answer if ya dont mind.
Looks like I have 100% of the votes cast. I must know it all :knothead:
Never hunted Muley's so I went with what I would want for whitetails. I see you like the Sox...
i'm with Nate on this one for Whitetails.
snow is great unless it melts a bit and then freezes again. Then you can be heard for a mile in the stuff...crunch crunch crunch.
I think its obvious it helps LOCATE deer though....
Kenny I'm heading out into the woods in 15min. Hurry up and get down here!!!
Nate, i'm on deer like stink on a skunk here, come on up bro!
What's snow? Seems like I remember that stuff but, I'm not sure.
It'll have to be in a few weeks. Make plans for the 3rd (mon) at arams or stewart.
Im kind atorn on what to actually answer thats why I did the poll..In my opinion there are advantages and disadvantages to both..Not that any of the disadvantages will keep me from going out anyway... :bigsmyl:
I would not know ive never hunted in the snow.
I take that back 2 years ago a freak snow storm the night before a pig hunt
I like just a fresh coating of snow for whitetails
makes it easier to see them but like already said if you get alot of snow and it frezzes it get;s real loud. Never hunted muledeer so i put down none.
Sorry I couldnt help you with the poll, never hunted in the snow. When we get an inch of snow down here, they will shut the state down...LOL
I have killed 78 whitetails 65 of those with a bow and not a mule deer I would love to get a muley with my curve. So Muleys it is for me.
I like a lot of snow. Where I hunt in the UP there aren't that many deer compared to the rest of the state . Heavy snow starts pushing them to where they yard up. That means more deer coming through my hunting area.
Snow ?? Que es esso?
Most big game hunts in my neck of the woods are closed before real snow sets in, this year we had snow on the ground October 6th. You might get a occasionally snow fall that doesn't last long, especially while sheep hunting but snow is more for bunnies than moose. When I lived back in Michigan I liked to have a foot or more on the ground, it concentrated the deer, made them easy to track and see and helped me stay quiet while stalking.
7 months till bear hunting, going to be a long cold dark winter. :banghead:
I don't get the opportunity often enough. I love huntin in the snow.
