Title: youth 1516 vs 1716?
Post by: homerdave on October 22, 2008, 02:45:00 AM
trying to get a matched dozen arrows made for my boy.
he is shooting a "lil'  scout" 48" #22 t/d recurve.
we have a big assortment of various arrows, but what seems to fly best are the jazz 1516's.
do you think i can get a 1716 to work in this bow?
it looks like that is the smallest shaft i can find that will take standard screw-in inserts, and i want him to be able to shoot judos and other small game/  stumping points...?

homerdave,
I am no spine expert by no means, but a archery champ once told me that his pet peeve was overspined kids arrows ! Go with the 1516's for sure. 1716's would be better suited for 30+ pound bows. My son shot 1716's when he was pulling 35lbs and they shot good.

I shoot 1716 with 125 grains out of a 40# bow.  Fly perfect!

Yes, I believe the 1716's will be overspined. My son shoots 38#'s at 24" and uses the 1716's.

My wife shoots 1416's out of a 25# bow very nicely.
