45 lbs, 470 gr carbon arrow, high foc, well tuned. i have a weird fear of shooting a 1-1 1/8" 2 blade. im just afraid of a poor blood trail do to a small 2 blade wound. they kill thousands of animals, but confidence in your equipment is half the battle, right? sooooo a magnus snuffer 1 1/8" cut (3 blade) or a magnus 1 1/2" flatblade? will my setup push it through a deer, under 30 yards? thanks for you opinions!

I've had amazing bloodtrails and poor blood trails with both on well hit deer. Even with a poor trail on a two blade though, none made it far. The two blade has a much better chance of getting through both sides, and has a chance of reaching vitals on a hard bone hit.

When shooting a lower weight bow a 2 blade broadhead will perform better than a 3 blade. Especially if you are looking for a pass through.A 3 blade broadhead has more surface area that creates more resistence and eats up kinetic energy. Poor blood trails are unfortunately part of bow hunting sometimes. Double lung shot with your set up and a Stos 160 will perform adequately.
I have had great success with a 125 grain Snuffer out of bows as light as 42#s and an arrow weighing only 345 grains. Pass thrus on a big doe and a big coyote, the arrow went in at the hip and came out the off shoulder on the yote. Also blew thru a fawn or two. Get them sharp and stay off the shoulder and you will be fine. Shawn
125 grain Snuffers for me! shot a buck just this evening with one out of my 46# Widow. I've had complete pass thrus on several deer with'em from my 46# bows. like Shawn said "get them sharp" and make sure they're flying true and you'll be fine.

STOS makes a great 2 blade broadhead. You can purchase them through any of the bow hunting outlets on line. The Sharpest Broadhead out of the package around. 3-1 ratio, good cutting diameter and heavy grains available.
Several good choices in the 2-blade: STOS, Grizzly, Ace, Zwickey, Magnus. A 3-blade Wensel Woodsman would do well, too. Have any of them well tuned and SHARP and you will be happy.
Most available broadheads are good these days, so that is not much of a problem. If you are concerned about penetration from your middleweight bow you could consider going up one step in arrowhead weight and staying with just two blades rather than three or four. - lbg
The NAP Razorcap (my favorite head) is devastating. If penetration is your main concern, I'd try a Magnus Stinger 4-Blade. Does more damage than a 2-blade, but the small bleeders don't seem to hinder penetration. I shot a buck yesterday with a Stinger 4-blade and got complete penetration with the arrow getting caught by the fletching on the off side, dropping out about 40 yards from the hit. This was out of a 43# bow with a 438 grain arrow.

I shoot a #46 widow,took a #120 doe at 22 yds, double lung, rib on each side, anged forward and busted the shoulder blade on opposite side, 45yd recovery. I then took a #135 4 pt, double lung, rib to rib exited, watched him run staggering, 120yds, blood trail Ray Charles could find. Was using a Wensel woodsman for both, 150gr, Vapor 3000, 430 grains total weight.
