Title: Where to get broadhead foam?
Post by: MikeW on October 18, 2008, 07:41:00 AM
I need a piece of foam for a custom quiver. I don't think some of refills I've seen for like Selway or Thunderhorn will work.

What is the technical name(type)of the spongee/rubber self healing foam we like to use?

Does anyone know where I could by some(store) or an online link where I could order some?

TIA

Last chunk I bought was for Kayak thwarts/leg support.  I carved it myself, enough for four hoods approx.  Got it at a kayaking/rafting store in the area.  It's gray in color.

Mike,
I don't know an name for it but I just keep my eye out for packing foam.  Every once and a while I come accross some spongy/dense foam that works great for quiver hoods then cut it to shape. dino

The kayak, canoe supports work real well, as Randy suggested. I actually like it better than most of the original stuff that comes with most quivers.

You can also use a pool noodle and carve your own.

The foam commonly used to outfit canoes/kayaks is called Minicel (closed cell). You can get it and other types of foam here,
