Which type of wooden arrowsdo you prefer??
Can't vote, the wood type does not have ash or Hickory
I like cedar and spruce because they have very similar charictaristics (sp?)
I like the POC shafts but have not used the laminated Hex Shaft yet, its on the list of things to do
I voted, but I'm with Frenchmanny, I like my ash, footed preferably.
Ash and Hickory for me as well. 5" bananna's
can you add some hardwood options to your list?
ash,hickory,maple,fir,others?
I am surprised at the percentage of real wood shaft shooters. I thought carbon would have been a larger percentage...like 50% wood, 35% carbon, and 15% aluminum. But what do I know...nothing obviously! lol
I prefer Douglas fir out of my current bow.
I shoot cedar spruce and Rod Leary footed shafts for hunting...PR
I agree, the number of woodie shooters seemed high; but I am glad to be in such good company!
ASH & Birch with 4" hybrid nana's
Great poll.. POC is my favorite shaft choice.. Because I can always get it and the smell is "perfect".. I am going to switch shafts when I need to build some heavier wood arrows.
JDS III
the traditional in "tradgang" sure does show up here! The bows may vary alot (other than no training wheels) but the arrows definitly show tradition.
ps-i have ash shafts i'm building
I bet most of the non-woodies just didn't take the poll. Not enuf choices on wood types and what I prefer (Cedar) is not what I currently use (Spruce).
For a poll to be meaningful they have to ask questions worded very carefully.
I like Laminated Birch because of the weight.
wouldn't let me submit. Surewood Doug fir wasn't an option.

Carbon and aluminum smell funny when I break them...
WOW! Thanks for the addons guys. sorry about the lack of info im new to shooting wood, didnt realize there were so many options.

Cedar and spruce, but cedar smells better.
My favorite is cedar, 5" feathers ok, add a coating of frothy red blood and your really talking. The more complicated the DNA of the coatings the more it becomes my favorite. My most favorite was recently destroyed by little ol 20# turkey. I really miss that arrow.
The poll left me out as well. I shoot a little bit of everything...except carbon. I shot one that I found on the range, and it flew real well. It has no markings, so I don't know what it is. Oh well. :D
Lately I have been on an aluminum kick, until I get more ash arrows made up. Feathers are 4.5" three-fletch shields. I have a bunch of Sitkas that I like, too, and some old leftover cedars.
The title of this poll could be skewing the results. I glanced at it, and assumed that someone needed help with wood arrows. Most folks clicking on the title "Wood Arrows????" would likely be those shooting them or wanting to shoot them. I never looked at the indicator that would have told me that this is a poll. I am lazy that way.
Killdeer :wavey:
Bamboo or cane, almost industrictible, great for hunting arrows as well.
Would not let me vote. Anyway, P.O.C. for me unless I'm using Western Larch for heavy work....
purple heart:
What part east are you from?... Some good larch over there!!
