Wow I did again guys! It goes like this, deer movement has been one food source to another so far, so my father and I have spent double time scouting during the season, we find the newest hottest buck sign and hang a stand or throw the lone wolf climbers on and hunt it then that afternoon. I will say the acorns are drying up and the deer are pounding the smooth bark hickory nuts. I saw a few good bucks for our area in a little over looked honey hole with houses around but had permission to access the place. It is only 25 acres or so and 15 of that is a awesome bedding area split up with open hard woods. We got the wind in our favor to low impact scout on tuesday during the middle of the day and found what we wanted in a few pich points, lots of good rubs and scrapes. So yesterday afternoon I got the wind I needed and put the plan into action, sneak in as quietly as possible and set up the climber 25ft up a hickory. I had 3 nice does come out of the bedding area at 5:30 pm and feede on hickory nuts for 20 minutes and move on. At 6:00 pm I decided to take out the grunt tube and rattlin horns, I got fairly agressive but not to loud, 15 seconds into it I see him headed my way 60yds out on fast trot. I hang the horns up and he stops and looks around for the for the other bucks he heard fighting, I give a soft grunt and he's moving in but hangs up at 45 yds, so I give him a long, low challenge grunt and he bites there is no stopping him now he hops over the fence 35yds out and instantly blows up and starts to grunt and posture ears laid back, hair on end, side stepping. I have a big lane to shoot him in as he turns broadside at 27yds I pick the spot tight to the shoulder a third of the way up his body, I coil the limbs of the 59lb zipper recurve ready to strike, hit anchor and give a soft mouth grunt and the 2bladed magnus is on the way driven by the beman carbon shaft and the silent power of the zipper, I watch as the red and white fletchings come into my view and cover the 27yds and vanish from sight right were my eyes are still burning a hole in the bucks lungs. He kicks his back legs and bolts, I almost instantly see blood, he covers the 50 yards in a flash only to jump a log into a few saplings and crash to the earth a few kicks of the legs and all is silent again in the little woodlot. I pump my fist, and look to the heavens and thank god for this special moment. A few minutes later I am kneeling beside my trophy waiting for my dad to arrive after the radio call. Thank you Dave knipes again I owe you big time were gonna get ya 2 of them. My dad and my fiancee', Jamie and Jerry Barker both members here from VT, Bill and Tracey Dunn from Zipper bows they are awesome. Here are the pictures of my 2yr old 141 lb. Vermont 8pt.
