Title: Smelly gloves
Post by: pdk25 on October 13, 2008, 09:01:00 PM
After being busted several times last year I decided to not get too worked up this year about trying to be scent free.  I am trying to play the wind, but where I stand hunt the wind seldom blows from a constant direction.  It rather predominates, say out of the east, and then varies from SE to NE with the occasional swirling.  That is in multiple locations.  As such I plan on trying to minimize my odors a little further when stand hunting.  One thing that I haven't come up with a solution for is that my shooting glove has absorbed tons of sweat and must reek of human odor.  I wonder if anyone has any solution, other than the obvious shooting without a glove.

thats hard man, hands are one of the sweatiest places on the body. id just try cover scenting the ever loving crap outta my glove and hoping for the best, but thats only if my glove really reaked. to be honest up untill this point i had never even thought about my shooting glove and odor. but im one of those guys who doesnt get overly worried about scent in the first place i just try to play the wind in my favor and hope for the best. You could try try baking soda to absord some of the smell too? i dunno just speculation.

I wash my Damascus occasionally in warm soapy water. Rince it well and roll it up in a towel to remove the excess water then pull it on my hand to form it, remove it and let it dry. Then I give it a good rub down with Montana Pitch Blend.  This will help to eliminate the old sour sweaty smell.    Pat

Try packing it in charcoal for a day or so.  Supposedly eliminates odors.
