Title: Questions on Gloves
Post by: Soilarch on October 13, 2008, 08:17:00 PM
Shooting gloves.

Tried some on the other day....and I'm a little confused on how they're SUPPOSED to fit.  I figure the fingers themselves should be rather snug.  Especially since leathers gonna stretch.

But the wrist strap on the back...whatever you want to call the part that connects the fingers and wrist strap seemed WAY WAY too short.

Is this normal/typical?  Anybody got pics of how they should fit.

I may just try order a LH tab instead.  Figure I'll try both before it's done.

What gloves did you try?

I have a couple of American Leather Big Shots and the way I was shown for fit - with your fingers straight out, the back of the glove should be flat against the hand (not tight) when the wrist strap is closed around the wrist.  The glove should be snug when the fingers bend.

I tightened my index finger stall a little by running another row of stitching on the side away from the nock.  It kept slipping even when new.

With my fingers straight they were still trying to pull the wrist strap over my thumb.

One had a elastic "back hand" and one was very thin leather.  By different companies and both were at LEAST 1 inch shorter than what I was expecting.  Medium and Large sizes were the same length on this "back hand" section. Which led me to wonder if they were supposed to pull that much.

If fit is a problem contact the guys at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear. You can do search for their website info. They make nice gloves which are reasonably priced. What makes them special is that you can send them a tracing of your hand and they will custom make the glove. For the "deep hook" shooters they will also make the facing and finger stalls any length.
