Title: morning hunt problems
Post by: Ian johnson on October 11, 2008, 09:30:00 PM
where I hunt, my ground blind is set up to where the wind normaly blows in my face, the deer feed in early morning sometimes, I normaly hunt afternoons so that i can get in my natural ground blind before the deer start moving, but tommorow i can only hunt the morning and want to hunt really really badly, but heres my problem, I have to walk through\\ around the food plot in the same area the deer feed to get to my blind, should I still go in the morning and risk spooking deer feeding?, is there a way to tell if deer are in the area without seeing them?

leave extra early to get to your blind. deer will still be bedded down-hopefully. As for telling if they are not there, night vision binocs are wonderful!

Sneak in "dark early"... Quiet as can be.

Ian,

Sneak in tomorrow, but when your done hunting find another way to get to your blind without going through the field.

Mike, next weekend I am going to devote a whole day to cutting another path, its really thick where I hunt so it takes a bushblade and a bowsaw a long time to clear a path open enough to walk through without making noise

Ian,
Know exactly what you are talking about.  I just got a new property to hunt this year with the exact same problem. Cutting a new path is the solution.  Makes a difference. dino

Use rubber boots. They leave no scent trail for a deer to smell. This works for me.
