I am in the market for an inexpensive chrony. I didn't think I would ever need one, but I think it would be very useful in researching and developing new bow designs. What have you guys used and found to be a good unit for the price. Where to buy?
Apex, The Pro Chrony works just fine. Like any "tool", it's accuracy depends more on the operator then it does the machine.
"very useful in researching and developing new bow designs."
It's not just useful, it's impossible to know what gains and losses you've done without knowing SE/PDF and efficieny. The trick is only changing 1 variable at a time. It's the variables you don't realize you've changed that will lead to false/mis-leading conclusions....O.L.
I have a Shooting Crony

Not exactly sure which model it is, it's not the basic one and not top of the range either. Does the job well, more features than I use and is very well built.
The Shooting Chrony Company out of Canada.I think Niagra Falls area Canada. You can find the info on line..but I've had one for over 17 years and have never had any problems other then new batteries.Thier warrenty is also free replacement should anything fail.I recently saw one sell on auction for about 79.00 new. They work just super....but one other thing about a chrony. When your buddy shows up with that new long bow he says is shooting 285 ft per.second...you can kind of cool him down....chronies are a very importent part of testing bows and no matter what folks say about the speed it it's a very importtent. As O.L. mention chacge one thing at a time and you will see............bowdoc
I currently have a prochrono and really like it . I also owned an Oehler 33P model and sold it when they discontinued the model and everyone was looking for one. I sold it for $600 and replaced it with the $90 prochrono. For my use it does just fine and is accurate.
Got my basic model Shooting Chrony in the late 1980's and it's still working just fine for bows, pistols and rifles. Good piece of gear.
Pyramyd airguns has them for $78.
