Post by: Hog Wild on October 04, 2008, 12:06:00 PM
Need an idea where to start for arrows for a 36#@26" Elk Ridge. Either Carbon or Aluminum...    :saywhat:      :help:

Easton xx75,  1816 with a 125 head would be my starting point

I pull that weight at 22" and use 1716 w/ 125 head.  I have used 1816 as well.  A bit stiff for my 22".

I have a number of bows in that weight... they handle up to 1816's with 125 heads, but I get much better performance with 27" 1616's with 65 grains on the tips.  I used 55 gr. points and put little 10 gr. brass screws in the backs of them. I've been really surprised at how these light arrows fly and at how they've lasted.  I made up 18 in early spring and still have 14... only bent 2 and I was able to straighten one of those, which I'm still shooting (no hope for the one that hit a rock at Moses Lake!)... rest were simply no finds.
